Griffith's Wawasee Marina is a family operated business
Griffith’s Wawasee Marina is a family operated business which has been servicing boating needs of boaters on Lake Wawasee for 42 years. Conveniently located on the Morrison Island Road at the southeast side of Lake Wawasee, it is operated by Terry, Dan and Lisa Griffith. They assumed the responsibility of operating the marina in 1977 following the retirement of their father, Larry, who had been actively involved in the business after purchasing it from Ross Greenwait in September, 1946. Griffith’s Marina is open year-round and offers boat sales, storage and rentals; docking facilities;, gasoline; and a large selection of boating accessories for lake enthusiasts. They also have complete service and a fully stocked parts department. The marina handles name brand boats with good reputations in the boating industry. Included in these are Boston Whaler, Correct Craft, Harris Flote-Bote,

Harris Flote-Dek and Mercury outboard engines. They also have a good selection of Trailmaster and EZ-Loader boat trailers. “Boaters in the Wawasee and Syracuse Lake area are quality people,” said Dan. “So we handle quality boats, motors and other equipment to fill their needs.” Terry commented that 85 percent of their business is from return clientele. He said many people shop at their marina because they know where the business has been located for these many years or have been referred to them by another boater who is happy with the service they received. Terry added that they are possibly the oldest Mercury outboard dealership in the country. He said the first group of Correct Craft boats, one of their featured lines, was received back in 1951. Terry is in a good position to pass along questions or concerns of area Correct Craft boaters to that company as he is one of the six dealers on the Correct Craft Dealer Advisory Council. He represents 35 dealers in the large district which reaches from Texas to Pennsylvania and from Tennessee north to Canada when he attends two council meetings a year at Correct Craft Corporation headquarters in Orlando, Fla. “Serving on this council is very interesting,” said Terry. “I have the opportunity to help improve the industry and to learn many new ideas and philosophies from other members.” Always striving to improve their service and efficiency, the Griffiths are converting their basic accounting functions to a computer system. They also came up with a new idea in 1987 which was well-received by their customers and which will be continued in 1988. They put a concession stand in their main showroom to give visitors the opportunity to buy hot dogs, popcorn and soft drinks as they look over all the new boats
