Plaza Marina, on the southeast side of Lake Tippecanoe, is a full service marina which has been serving the boating public in its location three miles west of SR 13, 4 miles east of SR 15 and just north of Armstrong Road since 1978. In fact, including the-present Plaza Marina ownership, a marina has operated in that location for 40 years, having been started by Ben Baker in 1948. A feature at the marina is the offer of little down payment required and first payment not due until April. John Jansma, who purchased the business
CHAPARRAL XL. SKIERS ARE GOING OVERBOARD FOR THESE BOATS! XL is quick out of the hole, tight on turns, and a kick to slalom behind. Add a teak dive platform with fold down ladder, a stainless steel ski tow, lots of storage space, and XL might just be the hottest boat on the 'BB ski scene. Standard features are hot items, too. Like full instrumentation, AM/FM stereo cassette sound system, deluxe interior in bowrider or cutty. Best part is, XL is fun on the water, with no drain on the budget. Jansma, whose son, Tim, works with him as parts manager, said he enjoys his association with boating equipment and, more importantly, with people. He continued with the comment that the company is probably best known for selling bass boats, specifically Smoker Craft and Dyna-Trak brands. Probably the next best seller is the Smoker Craft deck boat, an excellent combination of ski-boat and party boat. Also available are Ski Supreme and Chaparral, which ia a family type runabout. A large selection of motors is available as Plaza Marina is a dealer for Mercury, Mercruiser and Suzuki engines. Outboard and inboard/outboard Ebb Tide ski boats are also popular.
