Creighton leads Tigers through 'The Valley'

WARSAW — Warsaw dominated the boards and shooting Saturday evening, setting the stage for the Tigers’ second straight win, a 78-55 drubbing of Tippecanoe Valley. Brandon Creighton scored 23 points and had three steals to lead Warsaw’s attack. Sophomore Jason Zimmerman added 19 points, while Ty Woodruff chipped in 17. Junior Rob Delp dished out 12 assists for the Tigers. Warsaw’s perimeter shooting, 32 of 48 (66%) was the difference in the game. Tlje Tigers took a 15-11 lead after the opening period and never looked back. Craven Lynn topped the Vikings attack with 19 points, while Pete Terpstra and Dustin Dußois added 12 and 11, respectively. Tippecanoe Valley managed to connect on 16 of 39 field goal attempts for 41%. VALPARAISO 89, PLYMOUTH 62 — Valparaiso erupted for 34 points in the fourth period Saturday, en route to a convincing 89-62 victory over Plymouth in non-conference action. Valpo dominated the game in the first two quarters, taking an 18-point advantage into the half. But Plymouth stormed back in the third, closing within five points. But Valparaiso canned 15-of-17 from the foul line in the fourth quarter to pull away from the Pilgrims. Brent Osswald keyed Plymouth’s attack with 21 points. Doug Harris added 11 points for the Pilgrims.

CONCORD 80, NORTHWOOD 07 — Concord played without Shawn Kemp Friday, but the 6-11 center wasn’t missed as the Minutemen whipped North Wood, 80-67, in a Northern Lakes Conference clash in McCuen Gym. Kemp was serving a one game suspension for disciplinary reasons. In Kemp’s absence, Concord used a balanced scoring attack to offset North Wood’s three-point shooting. The Panthers canned nine of 22 shots for 41% from long distance.
