First service at new church

(By GLEN LONG Staff Writer Next Sunday, Nov. 15, will be a special day for worshipers at Wawasee Community Bible Church. This will be the first Sunday of worship in the new church building which is located between Milford and Syracuse on CR 1300 N. The congregation has been meeting in the Milford School cafeteria with over 200 in attendance each Sunday. “We have been planning the church building since September, 1986,” said Tom Speicher, pastor. “It has been built with a minimum of controversy and those in the congregation have pitched in to help willingly when each need became known. This church was built with many hours of loving labor. ” “I do feel strongly that we shouldn’t confuse the building

Every day should be one of Thanksgiving

I By MARIETTA FULLER Guest Feature Writer , The life of David, the Psalmist, was one of thanksgiving and praises unto God and the book of Psalms is filled with thankfulness. “That I may with the voice of thanksgiving, tell of all thy wondrous works” (Psalms 26:7); “Be thankful unto Him and bless His Name” (Psalms 100:4); “Sing unto the Lord with thanksgiving” (Psalms 147:7); and others. We can go to the Bible for help in living a thankful life. Start the day in singing or in quoting Psalm 118:24: “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.” Thank God for another day of life and thank Him for why you can rejoice and be glad in the day. Say the Lord’s Prayer, stopping after each verse or at the end in thanksgiving. In the feeding of 5,000 people

and more, including women and children, with five small loaves and two little fishes, Jesus set the example for thanking God for food. (Matthew 14:14-23) As you hear someone on radio, TV, or in person, as you read from the Bible, such as one of the letters of Paul, and as letters or memories take you back to those who have imparted some spiritual gift, say this verse from Philippians 1:3: “I thank my God upon every remembrance of you.” In 1 Thess. 5:18, the Bible says, “In everything give thanks.” Darkness can be dispelled by the “Light of His Word” and this is a blessing for how could we thank God for the following unless we know that purging helps us to bear more fruits of the Spirit (John 15:2 and Gal. 5:22-23); accidents, disasters, misfortunes, etc. in our lives finally result in good for the child of God (Rom. 8:28-29); tribulation can be of

help in our comforting others in their time of trouble (II 1:3-4); death and sorrow can bring comfort from His rod and staff (Psalms 23); weakness brings strength through Christ (Phil. 4:13 and II Cor. 12:10); chastening restores us to righteousness (Heb. 12:11 and Job 5:17); and throughout all of these and many more, God may be conforming us to Jesus (Rom. 8:29). Thank God for fellowship with other Christians, for helping you to bear the burdens of others, and for the unity in your church. And finally, “Thanks be unto God for His unspeakable gift” (II Cor. 9:15) of salvation through believing (as a sinner) in Jesus Christ that He is the Son of God. The Newspaper / DIDLE HERE'S GOOD NEWS FOR YOU Now let me remind you, brothers, of what the Gospel really is, for it has not changed—it is the same Good News I preached to you before. You welcomed it then and still do now, for your faith is squarely built upon this wonderfur message; And it is this Good News that saves you if you still firmly believe it. unless of Course you never really believed it in the first place. I passed on to you right from the first what had been told to me, that Christ died for our sins just as the Scriptures said He would. And that He was buried, and that three days afterwards He arose from the grave just as the prophets foretold. He was seen by Peter and later by the rest of "the Twelve.” After that He was seen by more than five hundred Christian brothers at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died by now. Then James saw Hint and later all the apostles. Last of all I saw Him too, long after the others, as though I ha 4 been born almost too late for this For I am the least worthy of all the apostles, and 1 shouldn’t even be called an apostle at all after the way I treated the church of God. But whatever I am now it is all because God poured out such kindness and grace upon me—and not without results: for I have worked harder than all the other apostles, yet actually I wasn't doing it. but God working in me, to bless me. It makes no difference who worked the hardest. I or they; the important thing is that we preached, the Gospel to you, and vou believed it. I Corinthians 15.1-11
