Obituaries
Wilbur E. Gross Wilbur E. Gross, 72, r 6, Warsaw, died Thursday, Oct. 29,1987, at 3 a.m. in Kosciusko Community Hospital. The son of Vernon E. and Lulie (Parker) Gross, he was born in North Webster on June 27, 1915. On November 26, 1938, he married Wilma Norman. She survives. Gross had retired from farming and grain trucking, was a member of the Dutchtown Brethren Church, and a lifetime resident of Kosciusko County. Surviving along with his wife are four sons, Charles Wilbur Gross, Jr., Syracuse, Peter and. Joe Gross, both of Warsaw, and Fred Gross, Clinton, Mont.; 26 grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by one daughter, one son, and one brother. Rev. Buck Garrett, pastor of the Dutchtown Brethren Church, officiated at services which were - held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 31, in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. Stanley R. Young Stanley R. Young, 56, r 3, Syracuse, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 1987, at 4:30 p.m. in Goshen General Hospital. He was born on November 6, 1930, in Fort Wayne, the son of Paul and Catherine (Kopp) Young. He married Elizabeth Stretch on June 29,1968. She survives. Young was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church, Syracuse. Hehadbeenemployed in the quality control department at Zollner Pistons, Fort Wayne. For 11 years, he lived in the Syracuse area moving from Fort Wavne. Also surviving are one daughter, Cory, at home; two sisters, Mrs. Beverley Childers, Fort Wayne, and Mrs. Betty Till,

Edwards, North Webster V DON ARNOLD IS HOSPITALIZED Former school superintendent Don Arnold, Milford, was admitted to Goshen Hospital on Friday, Oct. 30, after suffering a heart attack. He has now been moved from the intensive care unit to Room 314-2. It is expected Arnold will remain in the hospital for the remainder of this week for rest and recuperation. RINK'S CONDITION SHOWS IMPROVEMENT Dan Rink, 28, Cromwell, remains a patient in Kosciusko Community Hospital following an industrial accident on October 16 in Warsaw. Rink received two fractures of his hip and injuries to his right leg as the result of a cave-in of a ditch in which he was working. Rink, the son of Frank and Jerry Rink, r 5, Syracuse, will be in traction for approximately six more weeks as his condition continues to improve. He is in Room 423. SYRACUSE MAN IN GEORGIA HOSPITAL Bill Eyer, Syracuse, is hospitalized in a Georgia hospital after suffering fractured and compressed vertebrae as the result of a fall from a nine-foot ladder. At the time of the accident, he was working outside the home of his daughter, Becky, who lives in Brunswich, Ga. Eyer, who is in a body cast at this time, remains a patient in Glynn Brunswich Memorial Hospital, Room 5514-A, 3100 Kemble Avenue, Brunswich, Ga. 31520.
Waterloo; and two brothers, Andrew and Wally Young, both of Syracuse. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 31, at 1 p.m. in Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, with Rev. Richard Dunning, pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, Syracuse, officiating. Burial was in Syracuse Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Kosciusko County Cancer Society or to Grace Lutheran Church. Margaret Weirick Margaret Weirick, 78, 320 West Main St., formerly of 505 Logan St., Warsaw, died Saturday, Oct. 31, 1987, at 7 p.m. in Mason Health Care Facility. She had been ill for two months. Mrs. Weirick was born on March 29, 1909, in Warsaw, to Max and Dollie (Reed) Fries. On September 27, 1924, she married William Weirick. He preceded her in death on June 13,1978. A lifetime Warsaw area resident, she was a homemaker and member of the American Legion Auxiliary. Surviving are one son, Max Weirick, Warsaw; one grandchild; three greatgrandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Jennie Neibert, Leesburg. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren and one sister. Services were held at 10 a.m. yesterday, Nov: 3, in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Robert Fields officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Lucy Miles Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, at Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, for Mrs. Lucy (Welty) Miles, 93, 52 North Shore Dr., Syracuse. She died at 5:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, 1987, in Fountainview Place, Goshen, following an extended illness. She was born on August 12,
KOBLE UNDERGOES KNEE SURGERY Former Syracuse resident Craig Koble, 28, Warsaw, underwent arthroscopic surgery on Monday morning, Nov. 2, in Kosciusko Community Hospital to repair tom ligaments and cartilage in his right knee. Koble twisted his knee while participating in a game of volleyball on Saturday morning, Oct. 31. He is a patient in Room 402. MILFORD YOUTH BREAKS ARMS Greg Replogle, nine-year-old son of Dennis and Linda Replogle, r 1, Milford, broke both his arms in three-wheeler accident at his home on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 31. He has returned to school half days and does have use of his hands. JULIA REED IN INTENSIVE CARE Julia Reed, 86, Milford, was admitted to Goshen Hospital early this morning, Wednesday, Nov. 4, and it is expected she will remain in intensive care for three days. Syracuse EMS The Syracuse Emergency Medical Service made the following ambulance runs this past week: Cathy McDonald, 16, 512 North Huntington Street, Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital Thursday, Oct. 29, after the EMS was called to her home at 7:45 p.m. Sue Henson, 62, 401 >2 Chicago St., Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital, Friday, Oct. 30. The EMS was called to her home at2:44p.m. Chris Bets, 24, 829 Pixie Parkway, Syracuse, was taken to Goshen Hospital on Saturday, Oct. 31, after the EMS was called to Enchanted Hills at 6:34 p.m. The EMS was called to Miller’s Merry Manor, Syracuse, at 11:25 p.m. Saturday. 1894, in Marion, the daughter of George W. and Elnora (Hockman) Welty. On December 24, 1921, she married Nelson A. Miles. He preceded her in death in 1980. In 1917, moved to the Syracuse area. She was a retired school teacher having taught in Columbia City, Sidney, Syracuse, and Nappanee for a total of 40 years. She was a member of the Saint Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse, charter member of the Syracuse Craft Club, Wednesday Afternoon Club and Order of the Eastern Star, both of Syracuse, and the Delta Kappa Gamma. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. George (Margaret) Kleopfer, Arlington, Texas, and Mrs. Donald (Elizabeth) Rapp, Englewood, Fla.; six grandchildren; and five greatgrandchildren. One sister preced ed her in death. Rev. Phil Frew officiated at the service with burial following in Syracuse Cemetery. Mrs. Witmer was a housewife and had resided in the WarsawColumbia City-Cromwell area since the 19305. She- was a member of the Calvary Lutheran Church, Cromwell, and the Cromwell Senior Citizens.

CENTURY OLD BARN BURNS NEAR LEESBURG — A 40-foot by 100-foot frame barn was destroyed by fire at about 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 31. The barn was on a farm owned by Richard Allen, located on CR 750 N, east of Harper Road, northeast of Leesburg. Frank Stoffel had been renting the farm until that Saturday.
