Berneda Johnson is August bride of Randy Todd Runkel

Berneda DeLane Johnson, North Manchester and Randy Todd Runkel, North Manchester, were united in marriage on August 29 in the Petersime Chapel at Manchester College in North Manchester. Mark McKinneyof Bachelor Creek Church of Christ, Wabash, officiated the double-ring ceremony in the presence of 120 guests. Parents of the couple are Floyd and Reva Johnson, Silver Lake, and Richard and Carolyn Runkel, North Manchester. The altar was decorated with two candelabras and a fireside basket filled with gladiolas, daisies, and carnations, in mixed pastels. The organist was Norma Trump and soloists were Robert Runkel and Delight Howes, North Manchester. Musical selections were “Sometimes,” “The Lord’s Prayer,” “Candle on the Water,” and “Sunrise, Sunset ” The bride carried a cascade of yellow sweetheart roses, miniature white carnations and baby’s breath. Tonya D. Rhoades, Silver Lake, sister of the bride, was the matron of honor. Deanna Johnson, Silver Lake, sister of the bride and Christine Potts, Warsaw, were the bridesmaids. Katrina Runkel, North Manchester, second cousin of the groom, was the flower girl. Brandon Grubbs, Warsaw, was the ring bearer. The attendant’s wore tea length dresses in pastels, one aqua, one yellow and one pink. The flower girl wore a dusty blue dress with a rainbow colored overlay. They carried nosegays of daisies, mini white carnations,

ANNOUNCE ENGAGEMENT — Daryl and Marie Unibower, 15348 CR 52, Syracuse, announce the engagement of their daughter, Dee Ann, to Benjamin Shephard, son of John and Alice Shephard, 608 Revere Drive, Goshen. The bride-elect is a graduate of Fairfield High School. She received a BA degree in special education from Purdue University and is a special education teacher at Syracuse Junior High School. She is a member of the Kappa Delta Pi Education Honor Society. Moneyheffers observe 45th anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Delbert (Bertha) Moneyheffer, Milford, were honored for their 45th wedding anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 25. Upon arriving home from church, they found their house decorated with balloons and streamers. Their children and and grandchildren then hosted a dinner for them at Amish Acres in Nappanee. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Henry (Linda) Miller and daughters, Angela, Debbie, Melissa, Teresa and grandson Joshua, all of Milford; Mr. and Mrs. John (Sharron) Flora, Kristina and Emily, Fort Wayne; Mr. and Mrs. Vern (Jeanne) Bontrager and Nicole, Middlebury; and Mr. and Mrs. Clifford (Sue) Boyer, Amanda, Andrew and Alison, Syracuse. During the previous week, the Moneyheffers enjoyed a trip to Oklahoma and lowa where they visited relatives and enjoyed the fall scenery.

The October meeting of the Syracuse Ladies of the Round Table was held in the home of Karen Stiver. There were 19 members and one guest, Mary Brice, present for the meeting. Edith Brice presented the program entitled “From Yesterday.” This was a continuation of a review of the club from its beginning 65 years ago. Meals for older Americans

Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The Scout Cabin, Syracuse; the Pierceton Community Building; Mentone Community Room in the fire station; and the Retired Tigers Center, 320 W. Main, Warsaw. Meals for Older Americans is for persons 60 years or older and is a chance to meet new friends and enjoy hot, nutritional meals. The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Donations are accepted for the meals. The site directors request all persons planning on attending the meals to make reservations by 1 p.m. the day prior to attending. Pam Warner had the program. She showed slides of her trip to Germany with the Festival Choir. Their theme was “Strangers No More.” The choir spent six days' in East Germany. Guests at the meeting were Pam Warner, Jeana Coburn, and Pat Veitch. . Door prizes went to Jean Niles and Carol Elder. Hostesses for the evening were Donna Conder and Judy Moser. Gloria Hodler closed with a poem, “Count Them One By One.”

MARRIED FOR 50 YEARS — Eugene V. Moser and Elizabeth (Betty) Blue were married Oct. 30, 1937, by Rev. C.C. Collins in the New Paris Methodist parsonage. They are retired farmers who live at 11880 CR 52, Syracuse. Mr. and Mrs. Moser have two children, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. The couple’s children and spouses will host the open house. They are Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Moser, Ligonier, and Mr. and Mrs. Layton (Cynthia) Pergrem, Syracuse. An open house will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1, at the Richville United Methodist Church, located five miles west of Ligonier on CR 50 (old US 33) to celebrate the Mosers’ 50th wedding anniversary.

Grace Long, Janies Johnston married September 12 at Warsaw

Grace Elizabeth Long, Warsaw, became the bride of James Michael Johnston, also of Warsaw, on Saturday, Sept. 12, in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Warsaw. Dean Tucker, deacon of the church, performed the double-ring ceremony at 2:30 p.m. Parents of the couple are Glen and Jan Long, Warsaw, and Dr. Lee and Barbara Shaffer, Fort Wayne. Large sprays of peach gladioli and carnations filled the antique altar baskets. The pews of the church were highlighted with maiden’s bower, baby’s breath and satin bows. Featured on display in the church’s gathering space were childhood pictures of the bride and groom. Dorothy Sweeney, Warsaw, was the organist. The soloist was Christopher Long, Atlanta, Ga., brother of the bride. Special musical selections included “Classical Prelude,” “Colour My World,” “The Wedding Song,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Wedding March from ‘The Sound of Music,’ ” and Bach’s “Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desirine. ’ ’ The bride chose a Juliet-style gown of white tissue taffeta. It featured Venise lace at the bodice and a cathedral train, A cathedral-length illusion veil with blusher was attached to the bride’s headdress which consisted of a Venise lace coronet. She carried a large, fresh bouquet of long-stemmed Petica roses with trailing maiden’s bower. Katrina Byrd, Warsaw, was the matron of honor. The honor attendant was Cecily Richardson, Warsaw, sister of the bride. They wore tea-length, princess-style dresses of antique peach embossed satin which featured tulip sleeves. The attendants carried large herbal nosegays accented with Petica roses. Brian Art, Fort Wayne, was the best man. The groomsman was John Scott, Fort Wayne. Serving as ushers were Jerry W.
