10 YEARS AGO OCT. 26, 1977 Mr/ and Mrs. Delbert Moneyheffer of Milford were honored at a family dinner on Sunday, celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary. The Moneyheffers were married October 25,1942, in the Union Center Church of the Brethren by the late Rev. Leroy Fisher. Joe E. Estep, Milford, is celebrating 25 years of working for the Northern Indiana Public Service Co. (NIPSCo) this month. He and his wife. Anna, attend Milford Christian Church where he is an elder. They have two daughters and two granddaughters. Mrs Parker Phend and Mrs Jack Sharp of Milford left Sunday, Oct. 23, for a 17-day tour of

Brown was one of the county’s top ten scorers last year with 330 points and Ted has the speed and driving ability necessary for a good team. He brought his classmates home with him and they enjoyed refreshments of hot dogs, cake and ice cream. The Island Chapel Church of near Milford had a rally day at the church Sunday. Oct. 22. Jim Orn, son qf Mr and Mrs. Darrell Orn of Nfyfoni, was home from college over the week end. He went back Sunday evening. Mrs. Leon Tucker was elected president of the ladies society of the Milford Christian church on Thursday, Oct. 19. Serving with Mrs. Tucker will be first vice, Mrs. Robert Spearman; second vice, Mrs. Noble Fisher; secretary,. Mrs. Robert Auer; ass’t. sec., Mrs. Brian Wall; treasurer. Mrs. Stanley Custer; and ass’t. treas., Mrs. Roger Graff. Memorial services will be held in the Milford Methodist church at 10:30a.m. Saturday, Oct. 28, in honor of the late Rev. Walter W. Krider, a former Milford pastor. Rev. Krider, 73, died on Thursday. Oct. 12, in Denver, Colo. He served as pastor of the Milford Methodist church from 1937 to 1942. After World War II he returned to Milford where he lived 10 years, managing the Milford Lumber Company. 30 YEARS AGO. OCT. 24, 1957 Mrs. Lark Becker is ill this week with the flu. Robert Overstedt is substituting for her at The Milford Mail office. Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Homan, Mrs. Elizabeth Stiffler, Mr. and Mrs. Ren Clark, Penny and Jill enjoyed dinner at Howard’s Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Homan’s 25th wedding anniversary, Oct. 22, was observed. The Milford school closed Tuesday morning as the flu epidemic continued to spread. Principal Harold Young said there were 195 students absent Monday out of an enrollment of 615. Mrs. William Burgett has accepted employment at Beer’s Flower Shop. Mrs. Burgett accompanied Mrs. Henry Beer, Lowell Beer, and Linda Rassi to Indianapolis where they attended the Trade Fair and School of Design of the Florist Association of Indiana. Members of the Milford high school senior class proved themselves able actors and actresses as they put on a thi;ee-act comedy, “Bachelor Bait, v at th§ school gym Friday evening. Woodruff and Hunt speak in Honolulu

DWYER I Guest Feature Writer Judy Woodruff of ‘The MacNeil/Lehrer News Hour” and her husband, Albert Hunt, Washington, D C., bureau chief for the “Wall Street Journal,” were guest speakers at the fall luncheon of Hawaii’s Chamber of Commerce at the SheratonWaikiki on October 15. Judy focused her comments on the extent to which a journalist should press for confidential information from a presidential candidate. She spoke briefly of the problems which Hart, Biden, and Robertson have had, and deplored the fact that the press has given so much coverage to incidents which have little bearing on the candidate’s ability to handle presidential responsibilities. Would it not be more appropriate to question him as to how he would handle Gorbachev on a specific issue? In this writer’s opinion, Woodruff typified the wisdom, maturity, and common sense of a woman! Albert Hunt, as a reporter, spoke of the variety and unpredictableness of the upcoming presidential race. History favors the Democrats — we tend to go in eight-year cycles, but the Republicans have more familiar

The Leo Anglin family are victims of the flu. Wade Mishler of Milford and Gerald McHatton of Warsaw arrived home last Tuesday from an air trip to Atlanta, Ga., where they attended sessions of the National Funeral Directors’ Convention. Several Milford persons attended the Notre Dame-Navy football game at South Bend, Saturday.
