Valorie Richter, Ross Miller exchange vows in Indianapolis
Valorie Ann Richter, Anderson, and Ross (Jordon Miller, Indianapolis, were married September 12 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Indianapolis. Parents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Brandon, Leesburg, and Mr. and Mrs. Richard Richter, Anderson. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Miller, Aloha, Ore. The double-ring ceremony was performed before an altar decorated with peach and white floral bouquets of candelabra. David Richter, brother of the bride, was candlelighter. The bride, given in marriage by her father, Richard Richter, was attired in a white satin floorlength gown with chapel train. The long, sheer, sleeves were fashioned with lace at the wrists. Lace adorned the high neckline of the bodice. Her fingertip-length veil, edged with lace, was secured by a bridal cap. She carried a nosegay of peach and white flowers with matching satin streamers. Kristine King, Texas, was maid of honor. She wore a tea-length gown of peach satin with circular skirt, long sleeves, and scoop neckline. She carried a peach and white nosegay similar to the one carried by the bride. John Cartales, Detroit, Mich., served as best man. Mike Hartman and Doug Nelson seated guests. Syracuse board tables ALSA
The Syracuse Public Library Board of Trustees voted to table the’ trustee’s involvement in ALSA at the October board meeting. Virginia Ditmer reported on a ALSA meeting she had attended. The ALSA suggested the trustees from each library in the state become more involved in ALSA committee work and/or serve on the Trustees Roundtable. The board decided to hold off active participation in ALSA committee work until after the building project. Rosalyn Jones, librarian, announced the reservation deadline for the November 19 “Five Year Plan Workshop” in Wakarusa. She also reported Kenny Krueger, Wawasee High School junior, has been working at the library for three hours each Thursday and Friday, as part of a high school program. The general meeting of the Friends of the Library was announced as Thursday, Oct. 15, at 7:30 p.m., in the library. Milford couple rides in Ill's 'Hilly Hundred'
Bruce and Vicki Hunsberger, Milford, rode their bikes over the weekend in the Hilly Hundred at Bloomington. The Hilly Hundred is a two-day bicycle tour through the scenic hills of southern Indiana. The course consists of a 100-mile figure eight with two 50-mile loops in and out of Bloomington. The first loop goes through several miles of Morgan Monroe State Forest with its beautiful lakes, hills, and colorful thick forest. The second loop goes through scenic Nashville. The route is well marked with maps, cue sheets and directions being provided. Mrs. Hunsberger stated that there were 5,000 riders who participated. Food and drink was

The registration fee included food and sleeping bag space. The Hunsbergers slept on the floor in the Bloomington North High School. This was the 20th anniversary of the Hilly Hundred Weekend, which is sponsored by CIBA, Central Indiana Bicycling Association, Inc. of Indianapolis. This is the second year Mrs. Hunsberger has riden in the Hilly Hundred and the first for Mr. Hunsberger. Also riding with the couple was Jerry Rohyans, Mishawaka, a former Chore-Time Equipment employee.

Joan Buletty is August bride of Kim M. Slocum
Joan Mary Buletty, Syracuse, and Kim Michael Slocum were united in marriage on Saturday, Aug. 8, at 3 p.m., in St. Martin de Porres Catholic Church, Syracuse. Father Robert Hammond, pastor of the church, officiated at the double-ring ceremony in the presence of 200 guests. The bride is the daughter of Lawrence G. Buletty and the late Beverly J. Buletty, Syracuse. The bridegroom is the son of Kent Slocum, Anderson, and Carolyn Johnson, San Diego, Calif. The altar was decorated with two branch candelabrums with floral arrangements of white gladiolas, fresia, statice and eucalyptus accented with aqua lame bows. The same arrangements decorated the pew caps. William Beber, Fort Wayne, was the organist. Alan Sever with the Fort Wayne Philharmonic Orchestra was trumpeter and Bridgett Stuckey, Fort Wayne, harpist. James Jur, Fort Wayne, was soloist. Pre-service classical selections were played on the harp with “Trumpet Voluntary” played for the processional. “The Wedding Song,” “On Eagle’s Wings,” “Let There Be Peace On Earth,” “Wherever You Go!” “All I Ask Os You,” and “Ave Maria,’’ sung during the ceremony. “Ode To Joy,” was played during the recessional. The couple’s wedding ceremony was a full celebration of the mass including the exehange of the sign of peace extended to the congregation by the bride and bridegroom and honor attendants. The bride presented a gift of flowers to the blessed Virgin Mary as a prayer for a happy and healthy family. Ceslas Freehill, Syracuse, was the reader and Pearl Miller, Syracuse and Michael Byrne, Western Springs, 111., were presenters of gifts to the altar. The bride wore a satin gown with Chantilli lace on the skirt and a cathedral-length train. The gown featured a net renaissance sleeves and V-front and back neckline decorated with lace and crystal and pearl trim. She carried a cascading bouquet of white sweetheart roses, stephanotis and eucalyptus centerpieced by one white japhel orchid. Cynthia R. Kaiser, Syracuse, was matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Julie Votaw, Fort Wayne; Jacquie Bowser, North Webster; and Corine Colletier, Chicago, 111. Casey Votaw, Fort Wayne, was the flower girl, and Patrick Siegel, Northbrook, 111., cousin of the bride, was the ring bearer. Acolytes were lan McCarthy, Chicago, godchild and cousin of the bride, and Jensen Rufe, San Diego, Calif., cousin of the bridegroom. The attendants’ gowns had a strapless bodice of aqua lame and a drop waist with aqua lame set on the left side flowing into a white satin floor-length gown. The mother of the bridegroom wore a cream-colored dress with lace and a white japhel orchid as a corsage. A dinner reception was held at the Maxwelton Golf Club following the ceremony. Cocktails were served on the Maxwelton Terrace with Bridgett Stuckey providing music on the harp. Music for the dancing after dinner was provided by Capricorn Band, South Bend. Following a wedding trip to the Hawaiian Islands of Maui, Oahu, and Kauai, the couple is residing in Redmon Park, Dewart Lake. Mrs. Slocum is a 1976 graduate of Mount Assisi Academy, Lemont, 111., and Wawasee High School, and a 1980 graduate of Indiana University, Bloomington, with a bachelor of science degree in elementary education. She received her master of science degree in elementary education from Indiana University, Fort Wayne, in 1983 and is a fourth grade teacher with the West Noble School Corporation. She is a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority and Women of Today. Her husband is a 1982 graduate of Wendal Wilkie High School, Elwood, and attended Indiana University, Bloomington. He is a plant manager for Rinker Boat Company, Syracuse, and a , member of the Wawasee Boating Association.
