WARSAW — If Warsaw didn’t have any bad luck, it wouldn’t have any luck at all. The Tigers dropped their fifth straight Northern Lakes Conference contest Friday evening, 16-12, to North Wood. The Panthers raised their record to 4-3 overall and 3-3 in the conference. Around the NLC Warsaw,Un losing four-of-five conference games, have lost by a total of seven pointy. The Tigers have dropped three one-point contests Northridge and Wawasee). Goshen whipped the Tigers in their other conference game. down. After Randy Weirich netted nine yards on the ground on play later, Jim Powell dashed 20 yards to the Tigers' 15, setting up the score. One play later, Powell sidestepped a pair of Tiger defenders and sprinted into the end zone for the game-winner with 5:18 remaining. North Wood’s attempt at the two-point conversion failed. Warsaw, meanwhile, could not move on North Wood’s defense following the TD. The Panthers eventually took over possession of the pigskin and threatened to score as the game ended. Warsaw got on the scoreboard midway through the first period when Clint Johnson caught a fiveyard TD strike from Paul Wiley. Randy Dawson’s extra point kick failed, allowing the Panthers to remain on top. Phil Jenkins added a 33-yard Panther field goal just before halftime, extending the visitor’s lead to 10-6. Wiley gave the Tigers their first lead of the evening, scoring on a one-yard sneak. A try for the two-point conversion failed, but Warsaw led 12-10. Wiley connected on 16-of-36 passes for 166 yards. CONCORD 19, NORTHWOOD 14 — Concord scored 12-unanswered points in the second half Friday lifting the Minutemen to a thrilling 19-14 Northern Lakes Conference victory over Northridge. The Raiders held a 14-7 lead at the half, but two second half Vic Chael touchdown runs gave the Minutemen the win. Chael scored his first TD on an eight-yard run in the third period. However, Concord missed the extra point and Northridge led 14-13. But Chael capped the comeback with his five-yard scamper for the win. Concord’s attempt for the two-point conversion failed, but the hosts had enough points to win. Concord broke on top early, scoring on a 72-yard pass from Matt Miller to Tony Macri. Northridge, meanwhile, came right back, scoring on Randy Cook’s 14-yardpass to Matt Steury. The Raiders added a sevenyard Rob Zook touchdown run in
