GOSHEN — Disappointment hovered over Wawasee’s girls’ swim team after the Warriors placed third in last Saturday’s Goshen Relays. Penn took team honors with 104 points, while Concord was second with 94 points and Wawasee third at 74. Rounding out team scores included Warsaw’s fourth place effort and 64 point total. North Wood was fifth with 50 points and the host Redskins placed sixth with 24 points. The Warriors collected one first place swim in the meet, winning the 200-yard breaststroke relay in 2:21.52. Stef Berkey, Danielle Iwankowitsch, Sherry Payne and Cyndi Guimond easily won the event. Penn finished second at 2:31.26. Although Wawasee won just one event, it nearly won three others. The Warriors placed second in the 200-yard medley relay, diving and 400-yard individualmedley. In the 200 medley, Warsaw’s Kara Hoskins, Ivy Reed, Cindy Keough and Becky Cohen won, finishing in 1:59.37. The Warriors’ foursome finished in 2:03.60 with Concord five seconds slower. Julie Gunn and Dawn Firestone turned in a spectacular show in diving, nearly coming away with the victory. Wawasee’s duo used outstanding dives on their last attempts to score 218.20 points. Concord’s Jenni Horoky and Chris Wirt won the event with 219.45 points. Penn closed the door on Wawasee in the last event, 400-yard individual medley, with a first place swim. The Warriors Z i ■
