The goal of the campaign is to obtain a total of 100 volunteers by the end of this year. With the rapid growth of the YMCA and the increase of programs available to the community, the assistance provided by volunteers will be vital. A volunteer is one who freely donates his/her time to the YMCA in any capacity. The time donated will be logged and hours worked will apply toward awards presented at an annual recognition event. Senior citizens are needed to help form a Seniors' Center for fun, fitness, and health enhancement and teens will be given the opportunity to develop leadership skills, as well as provide community service. Volunteers of all ages are needed to serve in all areas of the YMCA. Children’s programs, swim classes, child care, general supervision of the facility, desk receptionist and office work, data entry and computer work, building tours, building maintenance, and craft work are just a few of the program areas and jobs that can make valuable use of volunteer time. The mission of the YMCA, a non-for-profit United Way organization, is to provide opportunities for ail individuals and families to achieve wholeness of spirit, mind, and body within a Christian atmosphere and to teach, by example, the importance of personal concern for human needs. To become a part of the volunteer program, contact Jackie McCarthy, Kosciusko Community YMCA Volunteer Coordinator, at 1401 East Smith Street, Warsaw, 269-YMCA (9622).
