Miss Ruth Edgar, Syracuse, was a guest Saturday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Gilbert and daughters, Syracuse. Pam Coburn, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Coburn, Syracuse, has been visiting relatives at Wabash the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph W. Graber and family have moved from 198 North Shore Drive to the Klink home on west Main street, Syracuse, formerly occupied by the Jack Wells family. Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Peterson and son spent a week’s vacation as house guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Enoch at Lake Wawasee. Mrs. Robert Pavy and daughter of Carbondale, 111., and Mr. and Mrs. William Bowers of Bedford were recent guests of Mr. and Mrs. James Butt at Syracuse. The Junk Shop, operated in Wawasee Village by Mrs. Nancy Pratt, will have a new home. The building in which the shop has
been located, on the west side of road 13, will be razed to make room for the new Lakeland Youth Center. The shop’s new home is on the southeast corner of road 13 access and Maple Grove street, the building that formerly housed the Sportsman’s Center. 30 YEARS AGO, SEPT. 19, 1957 With the installation of a 2-way radio in the town police car, last week, Syracuse now has the third county police car to be equipped so that (own officers can contact the sheriff in a hurry. The call number is “Syracuse Car 20.” Harold Arnold and Max Ganshorn leave today for a fishing trip into Canada where they will stay for a week or so. Mrs. E. T. Bateman of Farmer City, Illinois, spent the week end here with her sister, Mrs. Eva Rarig. Saturday evening they accompanied their brother and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Meek, to Albion to visit with their uncle, Charles Meek. They also attended the Rookstool reunion at Oakwood Park Sunday. Miss Lou Ann Hunnicutt arrived home for the week end Friday night after spending her first week at beauty school in Fort Wayne. The Lakeland Youth Center is offering three classes in aerobics this fall. The first session classes are currently underway and will continue through October 31. There are morning classes offered on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, evening classes on Mondays, Wednesdays or Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturday morning. The second session will begin on November 2 and end December 23. All classes are seven weeks. The youth center will also be represented in AAU competition Saturday, Sept. 26, in Indianapolis with several of the instructors and class members participating. Wanamaker, 36, Goshen, and Michael Anglemyer, 34, r 2, Syracuse, on Sunday, Sept. 6, shortly before 10 p.m. The incident occurred at the Pines Apartments on the east side of Lake Wawasee. Anglemyer suffered numerous broken facial bones and severe lacerations to both eyes requiring more than 100 stitches. He was taken to Goshen Hospital and released on Monday, Sept. 7. Wanamaker was not injured. The police report states the fight started when Anglemyer asked Wanamaker to move a truck that was blocking his vehicle. Charges are pending against Wanamaker.
