Christian witness programs

■/ Supplementing what Dale Kuhns describes as a “full service Church” are several Christian Witness programs geared toward encouraging visitors to attend Milford Christian Church. Located at the corner of Fourth and Henry streets, the church has earned a reputation for its openarmed attitude, with many visitors having become permanentmembers. Pastor Kuhns, senior minister, presides over evening worship and Sunday morning services, while Pastor Brian Wilcox, youth minister, helps spread God’s word to the children of the church. “We encourage all of our church members to bring their friends to services. Anyone is welcome,” says Pastor Kuhns, noting that a Light Os Evangelism board was started to encourage visitation. The board, located near the church pulpit, keeps tabs on the number of visitors attending each week, while a light is kept on as the numbers climb. “The light has been on for the past two weeks,” Pastor Kuhns says, adding, “It stimulates our Christian Witness program.” A bus ministry also helps the church spread fellowship, with children being bussed to Sunday morning worship. “We call it ‘Wheels Up’,” the pastor says, noting that adults act as drivers and shepherds to the children who take advantage of the free program. “Many of the children come from poorer families and this gives them a chance to learn about the Bible-while having fnn at the same time,” he adds. " Craft projects and singing comprise much of that fun, while the youngsters start the day off with donuts and orange juice, compliments of one of the church’s adult Sunday School classes. “The Wheels Up program is doing very well — we’re supplementing a very good youth program,” Pastor Kuhns remarks. The church also supports Bible College students who are planning to go into the ministry, while mission projects include the funding of medical supplies for a missionary program in Mexico. '“Currently we have a young man who we are supporting at Cincinnati Bible College,” Pastor Kuhns says, referring to Marty Sheckler who also served a missionary internship in Africa over the summer. “He will be presenting a slide presentation on his

The Christian School, which shares the grounds at Fourth and Hemy streets, also serves as a Christian Witness program, with children in preschool through the fourth grade reaping the benefits of a combined academic and Bible training curriculum. Such programs support the church’s belief that “the youth of today will be the church of tomorrow,” while catering to senior members as well.

All area residents are invited to visit the church during its Revival Services, September 27 through October 2. Services will begin at 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and at 10 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Sundays, with Pastor Mel Harrell of the Ligonier Church of Christ serving as guest evangelist. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and snail deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumors of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
