EXTENDED COVERAGE - K . V By DON TCjy J ARNOLD j Dp you live In a .condominium? More /and more apartments and townhouses are financed and managed that way these days. You probably know by now how a condo owner's insurance covers the inside of the units, plus a share of the association's property. If you get involved in the condo association, though, perhaps serving on its board of directors, there are further considerations. ' You want to be sure that the association's bylaws include an indemnification agreement that protects directors from liability, as lona as they act in good faitn. Older associations may not have this. Who'd sue? Condo owners who feel that rules are being enforced unfairly or inadequately. Or anyone who is injured, or whose property is damaged by neglect of the condo employees. Be sure that the condo board is covered by directors' and officers' liability insurance. This covers legal defense and any possible judgements. (It won't cover the board if they do something illegal, though.)
