EXTENDED COVERAGE DON ARNOLD Plonningo-toove — off/to college or to another homp — may mean . plannmg to move by yourself .in g rented truck. That calls for different driving skills, and different insurance, too. Your personal outo insurance will not cover you in case of accident. so it's a good idea to sign up for the supplemental insurance offered by the rental company. Here's what to look for. You'll need collision deductible to protect you from liability if you damage the truck you rent. Medical and life insurance offers a predetermined amount in case of injury or death resulting from collision. Cargo insurance is usually part of the package, too. It only covers damage caused by collision; it does not cover loss from theft or because of poor packing. Check to see what protection is included in your homeowner's policy. The rental company's own insurance will cover you and it for liability for property damage, injury or death in case of accident, but its limits may not be adequate. Umbrella protection can help here.
