FORMER MILFORD resident Gregory E. Mishler, a state representative from Bremen, who recently compiled a 99.32 percent voting record in the 1987 session of the Indiana General Assembly, has been commended by Speaker of the House Paul Mannweiler (R-Indianapolis). Mishler has been a member of the Indiana General Assembly since 1983. "In that time,” said Mannweiler, “Representative •Mishler has proven himself to be a conscientious and dedicated legislator." In the 1987 session and special session. Mishler participated in all but three of the 743 votes taken resulting in a 99.32 percent voting record. Roll calls are votes in which the representatives vote either aye or nay. and their preference is recorded in the Official Journal of the House. Passage of every final version of a bill, most amendments and. occasionally, parliamentary maneuvers require a roll call vote.
“One of the most basic duties of a legislator should be to cast a thoughtful vote on every measure before the House,” said Mannweiler. “Few representatives have been as conscientious in this regard as Greg Mishler.” On occasion, an emergency meeting or short talk with a constituent might take a legislator away from the House floor, but Representative Mishler has made it his priority to carefully consider the roll call votes and represent the interests of House District 22, said Mannweiler. MEMBERS OF the Milford EMS are elated at Monday night s turn out. It seems the people of this community care. They don't want the unit discontinued. They want to help. A total of 45 people were in attendance to hear the presentation by Jeff Coonie, EMS coordinator, and Pat Gaume, EMS classroom instructor and emergency room worker, both from Goshen Hospital. Among those present were 13 Milford EMS technicians
and drivers and two doctors. Dr. Floyd Rheinheimer and Dr. Douglas Strycker. Following the presentation, 14 people signed up to take the classes and become EMTs and quite a few others are thinking about it. It was reported the Milford Area Development Council will underwrite anyone with financial difficulty who wants to take the class. The class itself, which will be held at Goshen Hospital, is *155 per person, but the person taking this class gets all their money back. At the completion of the class, the EMT will get back *75 and at the end of one year of service with Milford, this individual will get the rest of his/her *155 back. It was also reported by Donald Boggs. Plain Township trustee, that anyone taking the class from Leesburg, out of the Milford organization, will be underwritten by his organization since Milford covers all of Leesburg. Anyone who is still thinking
about taking the class has until September 20 to decide. Persons with questions should call Rich Rhodes at 658-4082 or Cheryl Brunjes at 658-4726. ' The Milford EMS is thankful to MAD, the Milford Lions Club, the Milford Kiwanis Club, Plain Township trustee, Milford Family Physicians, and virtually the whole town for the support.
