Northeast Indiana Erosion meeting to be held Sept. 1
The Elkhart County Soil and Water Conservation District announces the draft report for the Northeast Indiana Erosion Study will be reviewed at a public meeting on September 1, at 7 p.m. in the meeting room above the Cooperative Extension Service located at the fairgrounds in Goshen. The report identifies major erosion problem areas in northeastern Indiana. It also presents several management system alternatives that can be used as guides in preparing detailed resource management system plans to reduce erosion on individual farms in these problem areas. The report lists the cost of these alternatives, as well as their economic and environmental effects. Limited copies of the report discussing Elkhart County’s erosion problems and alternative solutions will be available at the meeting, according to Richard Snider, chairman of the Elkhart County Soil and Water Conservation District. Beautification meeting Aug. £4 at Syracue Residents concerned with the appearance of Syracuse should mark Monday, Aug. 24, on their calendar for a beautification meeting at 7:30 p.m., in Syracuse Scout Cabin. The meeting is to discuss beautification plans for the town through a beautification program with the SyraciiseWawasee of Commerce. Input from the citizens of the community are needed before plans are drawn up. Bill Beemer, chairman, has stated in past meetings, this will be a community project and the plans will not be the idea of a few people, but input is needed.
