Stephanie Smith, Tod Deßolt married June 13 in Syracuse
' Stephanie Carin Smith and Tod W. Deßolt, were united in marriage on Saturday, June 13, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, Syracuse. Rev. Lewis Hathaway, pastor of the church, performed the double-ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen C. Smith, Syracuse. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Roger W. Deßolt, Ligonier. - 14 Bouquets of pastel spring flowers decorated the church with double candelabrums and candles in each window. There was a unity candle on the altar made by the bridegroom’s grandmother. The pews were marked with white bows. Russell E. Sonafrank 11, Syracuse, was the organist and Don Impey, Syracuse, was the soloist. Musical selections included “O Perfect Love,” “Sunrise, Sunset,” “The Wedding Song,” and “The Lord’s Prayer.” The bride wore a white gown of slipper satin, schiffli lace and organza ruffles with leg-of-mutton sleeves. Schiffli embroidery and pearls adorned the sheer yoke. The natural waistline flowed into a band of schiffli embroidery and pearls. The boarder was embellished with mushroom ruffles flowing into a cathedral train. Her finger-tip veil was attached to a flowered wreath with pearls. Pearls also adorned the veil. Her bouquet was of pink rosebuds, white carnations, lily of the valley, fern, and baby’s breath with ribbon accents. Staci Keller, New Albany, was maid of honor. Kim Heintzelman. Ligonier, sister of the bridegroom; Tracy Anglemeyer, Millersburg; and Lorie Hartsough, Millersburg; were bridesmaids. Heather Coyle, Ligonier, was junior bridesmaid. The bridal attendants wore tealength pink dresses of scallopedged lace over a slip of satin with a satin cummerbund, and back bow. Their colonial bouquets were of pink roses, white carnations, baby’s breath, fern, ribbons and were surrounded by white lace. Jeff Anglemeyer, Millersburg, was best man. Bridegroomsmen were Casey Becker, Constatine, Mich.; Scott Yates, Syracuse; and Larry Schroyer, Ligonier, brother of the bridegroom. Longtime student of history John Sudlow will present a program of slides and dialogue at the annual membership meeting Friday of the Wawasee Property Owners Association.. Tippy POA re-elects officers for 1988 Officers of the Lake Tippecanoe Property Owners Association were re-elected at the annual meeting of the association on July 11. The meeting was in the historical Tippecanoe Gardens Ballroom. Re-elected were: President — Denny Fuller Vice president — Matt Dalton Treasurer — Betty Jo Koss Guest speakers for the meeting were from Earth Plan Consultants, Fort Wayne. Lunch was served following the meeting. Also elected were landing directors for the upcoming year. All association members are reminded of the Annual Dinner Dance at the Tippecanoe Country Club on August 21. This dance is for all members and their guests. It is the second year for Sudlow to present a program on local history before the 700 ; plus member organization. “John did such a fantastic job last year that he’s returning by popular demand,” said Wiley W. (Bill) Spurgeon, the association president. "This year he’s incorporating more material in celebration of the Syracuse bicentennial, and we’re all looking forward to it.” Sudlow has been collecting data, slides and photographs about Syracuse and Wawasee history for several decades. Registration times added An addition to the registration times for the North Webster Schools has been announced by Principal Richard Long. The time of 4-7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, has been set for all new students or students who could not make the 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. registration times. The other registration dates are: Wednesday, Aug 12, for those in grades six, seven and eight. Thursday, Aug. 13, for those in kindergarten through second grade. Meals for older Americans
Meals for Older Americans are served each day at the following locations: The Scout Cabin, Syracuse; the Pierceton Community Building ; Mentone Community Room in the fire station; the Retired Tigers Center, 320 W. Main, Warsaw; and Packerton Community Building. Meals for Older Americans is for persons 60 years or older and is a chance to meet new friends and enjoy hot, nutritional meals. The sites are opened several hours each day including noon for programs. Meals for Older Americans is not associated with welfare but is for the promotion for better health for the older population. Donations are accepted for the meals. The site directors request all persons planning on attending the meals to make reservations by 1 p.m. the day prior to attending. Phone 457-2631 for Syracuse transportation and reservations. Day Care plans rummage and bake sale A rummage and bake sale is planned by the North Webster Day Care on Friday and Saturday, Aug., 8 and 9, in the Lions Building in North Webster. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both days. All proceeds from the sale will go to the day care. Make sure to mark on your calendar Friday, Aug. 14, at 7 p.m. This will be the day care’s open house in the education wing of the North Webster United Methodist Church. The public is invited to attend and see the programs available to children attending the day care. There will be a question an answer period, entertainment by the students and refreshments.

Susan Dain, Mark Jacobs married in Carmel June 6
Susan Marie Dain and Mark Alan Jacobs were united in marriage on Saturday, June 6, at 1:30 p.m., in the Carmel Friends Church, Carmel. Wayne Carter, Richmond Friends Church; Delbert Brown, Pennville Friends Church; and Paul Williamson, Portland Friends Church, officiated at the doublering ceremony in the presence of 250 guests. The bride is the daughter of Jerry M. and Letitia Dain, Syracuse. The bridegroom is the son of William and Mary Jacobs, Marion. The church altar was decorated with ferns, baskets of fresh flowers and candelabrums. There were also aisle candles. Clover Leap, Carmel, was the organist and Don Kennedy, Syracuse, the pianist. John Carter, Westfield, sang “Forever Doesn’t Happen In a Day,” which was written especially for the Dain family weddings; Diane Jackson, Indianapolis, sang “This Room;’’ and Jeff Blackburn, Russiaville, sang “O Perfect Love.” The bride and bridegroom sang “Here We Are” as they lit the unity candle and shared their love and appreciation to their parents with roses. The bride wore a deluxe taffeta gown with wedgewood lace, Venice lace and satin rosebuds. The bodice was trimmed with lace medallions and pink rosebuds and the off the shoulder sleeves were trimmed with lace. The gown also featured a deep basque waistline with wedgewood lace. Her headdress was a halo of white and pink roses. The chapel train was trimmed with lace. She carried a bouquet of roses, stephanoitis, baby’s breath, Lily of the Valley, and ivy. The bouquet was designed by the bride's cousin. The skirts had soft gatherings and bows with a flattering basque waist and self tie sash. The maid of honor’s gown was aqua in color with all other attendants wearing pink. All attendants carried lace fans with silk flower arrangements also designed by the bride’s cousin. Terry Jackson, Marion, was the best man. Bridegroomsmen were Bill Jacobs, Marion, brother of the bridegroom; Jon Jacobs, Lebanon, brother of the bridegroom; Todd Shoemaker, Marion; Damon Seacott, Wabash. Ushers were Dan Bauer, Syracuse, brother-in-law of the bride; Dick Bragg, Marion, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; Jim Gibson, Gas City, brother-in-law of the bridegroom; and Chris Love, Marion, brother-in-law of the bridegroom.
A wedding reception was held immediately following the ceremony in the fellowship hall of the Carmel Friends Church. Serving the guests were Janet Bragg, Marion, sister of the bridegroom; Jane Ann Gibson, Gas City, sister of the bridegroom; Janelle Love, Marion, sister of the bridegroom; Darlene Jacobs, Marion, sister-in-law of the bridegroom; and Beth Jacobs, Lebanon, sister-in-law of the bridegroom. Amy Jacobs, Marion, and Tiffany Painter, Gas City, both nieces of the bridegroom, were at the guest book. Following a wedding trip to Gatlinburg, the couple is now residing at r 5 box 78, Wabash. The bride is a 1985 graduate at Wawasee High School and 1987 graduate of Vincennes University where she received an associate of science degree in executive secretarial. Her husband is a 1984 graduate of Marion High School and attended Ball State University, Muncie. He is a houseparent at White’s Institute, Wabash.
