Dr. Lacy is new minister at Leesburg United Methodist
Dr. Donald C. Lacy has been appointed pastor of the Leesburg United Methodjst Church. A veteran pastor, he has served churches across the State of Indiana. He received BS and MA degrees from Ball State University in Muncie and MDIV and DMIN degrees from Christian Theological Seminary in Indianapolis. After having arrived in Leesburg, he observed. “One of the most impressive outreach ministries I have ever seen is the Tippecanoe and Worship, Too' service sponsored by this church." His first Sunday on July 5 provided him and the congregation with a dampening experience as the rain poured down during the service. Dr. Lacy was philosophical about the weather and said, “We must not feel sorry for ourselves. There are places where you would be threatened with death if we came to worship at all. In other places, people are so weak from lack of food that they don’t have enough energy to get to a house of worship.” The pastor's early career was teaching social studies and English at the high school level in Jay County. He still loves teaching and continues to do guest speaking, lecturing and workshops on a variety of subjects He said, "Caring and welleducated teachers'are indispensable in both the secular and religious fields."
