Darr honored at Evansville
EVANSVILLE — Jennifer Darr was named Most Valuable Woman Swimmer at the University of Evansville during an April awards ceremony at the university. It was Darr’s second consecutive year for the award. At Evansville, she presently holds seven school swim records, four individual marks and three relays. Originally scheduled as a 25-mile race, the route was cut to 24 miles and the starting time stalled for one hour due to participants involved in The Mail-Journal-Flotilla Road Race at Lakeside Park. Three bikers were involved in one mishap on the course, suffering minor injuries. These riders were spared from any injuries and paced themselves to the top three spots. Darr assisted Evansville to the MCC Championship by winning all seven of her entry’s in the competition. She was the only swimmer to accomplish the feat. After graduating from ) Wawasee High School in 1983,
Darr attended Vincennes University for two years. She became a National Junior College AllAmerican at Vincennes. Other awards presented to Darr include Vincennes’ 1984 Rookie of the Year’ and 1985 Mental Attitude Award. The former Warrior will graduate in December from Evansville with a degree in criminal justice. Darr is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Darr, Syracuse.
