■■PF ißkx FISH FRY — The Syracuse Lions enjoyed its most productive fish fry in history Saturday, July 4, at the Scout cabin. It was reported that around 900 people were served during the four-hour fry, totalling 561 pounds of fish, and nearly $3,000 was taken in. In 1986, the local Lions club sold 295 pounds of fish. Among the business to be discussed will be: The loading zone ordinance, contract for leasing the park pavilion, a petition for a parcel of land to be vacated, renewal of a contract with Northern Indiana Public Service Company, dates set for budget meetings and hear a request for permission for a police officer to attend acting town marshal’s graduation from the academy in the squad car. The board will meet in an executive session following for personnel problems.

LIONS INSTALL OFFICERS — Members of the Milford Lions Club held a ladies' night, installation of officers on Monday evening. The program, a film on the first oil well, was presented by Ted Baumgartner. Special guests of the evening besides the wives were Joe and Anna Estep who helped the Lions at the Mermaid Festival food stand in North Webster, Baumgartner and Past District Governor and Mrs. Richard Powers of the German Township Lions Club of South Bend. Powers is currently serving.as district cabinet secretary. He installed the officers.
Minor injuries in accidents at Syracuse
Three accidents were reported to Syracuse Police last week, with one resulting in minor injuries to one Syracuse resident. Driver inattention contributed to a two-vehicle collision at 1:04 p.m. last Saturday, July 4, on SR 13,100 feet south of Warner Road. Timothy A. Goshert, 29, Warsaw, was attempting a right hand turn when David J. McVey, 23, Indianapolis, struck the 1974 Heil tanker he was driving in the rear with a 1984 Chevrolet Cavalier. The McVey vehicle suffered up
to SI,OOO in damages while the tanker, owned by Tinker Oil Co., Inc., Warsaw, has damages of up to S2OO. Two vehicles suffered up to SI,OOO in damages'when Paul E. Currently the photographs are on display in the lobby of the State Bank of Syracuse's main office on Main Street.
Fleetwood, owned by Patricia A Trinkle, 57, Daytona, Fla., while leaving the parking lot at Aunt Verna’s Restaurant, Boston and Huntington Streets. Up to SI,OOO damage was caused to the Trinkle vehicle, while the Hampton automobile suffered up to S2OO in damages during the incident, which was reported at 12:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 1.
Local businesses were invited to make nominations through applications for inclusion in this project. The subjects for the project were chosen by the SyracuseWawasee Chamber of Commerce according to a list of criteria each applicant would have to meet. The photographer was Tim Yeager, a Syracuse native. With the help of Arch and Della Baumgartner, publishers of The Mail-Journal Yeager was photographing school events for the local newspaper while still in junior high school. The newspaper work continued through high school and as a result of working with a long-time local photographer Perc Bartlett, wedding photography and portraiture followed. Yeager and his wife, Suzue, now operate a parttime studio in the historic Grand Hotel building at Main and Huntington. Four thefts reported Four thefts and two incidents of vandalism were reported to Syracuse Police July 1 through Monday. July 6. Harlan Sizemore, New Paris, reported the theft of a motor and battery from his boat while it was parked at a dock off of Pickwick Road, sometime between Saturday night, July 4, and 11 a m. Monday, July 6. The theft resulted in a S4OO loss. Frank Slabaugh, Syracuse, reported the theft of one Schwinn 20-inch boys’ dirt bicycle from his residence at 10:15 a.m. Monday, July 6. After investigating the case, police found a bike that met Slabaugh's description and returned it to Tuesday, July 7. Christina Martin, Syracuse, reported damage to a vehicle in the back of her residence, noting that tail lights, tires, and the inside of the car had been vandalized sometime between June 24 and Saturday, July 4. <■ A resident of Ogden, Utah, reported the theft of stereo equipment and damage to CB-radio equipment, accounting for a $855 loss sometime between Friday evening, July 3. and 11 am. Saturday, July 4. Donald L. Wolf noted that his 1984 Ford Mustang was parked on John Street when the equipment was stolen and damaged. Dr. George C. Smith reported the theft of a banner from his office at 1000 S. Huntington St., noting that the theft occurred sometime before 8 a.m. Wednesday, July 1, accounting for a SSO loss.
