a blacksmith and carpenter by trade, remodeled the house by replacing the lean-to with a large kitchen and added two bedrooms to the west end. He also provided a cellar. Later, bedrooms were added upstairs, and the house became the two-story structure as it is today. Evan died in 1892 and the title went to his sons. Preston F. Miles and Steven A. D. Miles. In later years, daughter Barbara Ellen Miles, who married Edwin Forrest Holloway, occupied the family home. Evan Miles, the first of this family to live in this home, was elected to the first town board and served as its president. His son-in-law, Edwin Forrest Holloway, drew up the incorporation papers for the town and served as the first town clerk. Title to this property has remained for the last 125 years in the hands of a descendant of the old couple. Eloise Holloway

Rogers became owner a few years ago and restored the home and furnished it with antiques. She is the great-granddaughter of Evan Miles and the granddaughter of Edwin Forrest Holloway. Eloise Holloway Rogers was born and raised next door to the Miles/Holloway home. To young Eloise, this was her Grandma’s house. Even though Grandma Ellen has passed from the scene, she still lives in Eloise's memory. Above the kitchen door is a sign placed there by Eloise during the restoration ; it reads “The Grandma House.”
