Guy Ott. Ott is now 93 years old and a resident of Greencroft, Elkhart. In the top photo is the way East Main Street looked in 1905 and shows only horse and buggies, as the automobile had not made its appearance in Syracuse. Although the streets are not paved, you can see some progress as the town has sidewalks in the business district. The first building on the left, which was recently razed over the years housed the "dime store” and the Star Store. The first building on the right, built by S. L. Ketering, was for many years a drug store. It is now owned by the Masonic Lodge. In the lower photo is Huntington Street looking south in the early 1900 s. This photo was taken prior to the first fire in the Pickwick Block which is located on the right. On the left is the old Holton Hotel, now used for apartments in the upper level and two businesses in the lower level.
