Jaycees were chartered in 1985
The Syracuse Jaycees is the newest area service organization, having obtained its charter in October of 1985 after a similar group disbanded in the 19705. The group, which consists of young men and women from the ages of 18 to 35, has run several successful projects in the community, including: Toys for Tots, a fundraiser for Muscular Dystrophy, and Operation Red Ball, a program designed to help firemen and rescue units identify areas of a home where children
and invalids frequent. The main objective of the Jaycee movement is the growth and leadership training that young people receive through worthwhile community projects. While the local organization 's proud of the projects that it has run, it has also made sure that there is roonTfor social activities within the group; several athleticteams have been fielded and regular socials are planned by the group.
The Syracuse Jaycees invite anyone in the community between the ages of 18 and 35 who is interested in developing themselves, offering new ideas to benefit the Syracuse community, and having fun while doing it to contact them. Syracuse is a special place to the local organization, and as we all take time to celebrate the 150th birthday of the town, the Jaycees join others in looking forward to continued successes here.
