LAYING CORNERSTONE — Syracuse students take a moment to pose for the camera after laying the cornerstone for Syracuse High School Nov. 13,1907. The new school was built on school property in front of the old school, which was located where the upper parking lot is today. The site of the new school, finished in 1908, was across the street from the present public library on East Main Street. The stone contained a copy of the “Register,” the school yearbook “The Pottawattamie”, a letter to pupils of the future, and the names of all the scholars of the Syracuse schools.
