S"’ ' Commerce Interstate Cooperation The Papers Incorporated P.O. Box 188 Milford, Indiana 46542 TO MY FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS OF SYRACUSE: 150 years ago, our ancestors set out to build a town. On July 3, we will begin a celebration of their accomplishments and the accomplishments of all those who followed and worked to make Syracuse the beautiful, prosperous community it is today. ~ A sesquicentennial celebration is a time for reflecting on the achievements of the past while keeping one eye on the future- The home of Indiana’s largest natural lake and a vacation site enjoyed by many, Syracuse continues to be one of our state's fasted growing towns. Our new town hall, remodeled police and fire department, and ongoing beautification efforts are monuments that most reflect the concern and dedication the citizenry has for its town. Living and working in Syracuse, I hold great pride in our city and the contribution it makes to the Hoosier state. Through many eras of change, the » strong people of Syracuse have held dear the values and traditions that have made the Lakeland area such an enjoyable and nice place to I have every confidence that the community camaraderie that has made our town strong will continue well into the 21st century. So as we anticipate the celebration of two important events, the birth of our town and our nation’s independence, I want to extend to the people of our community my hearty congratulations and wishes for success with the 1987 sesquicentennial festival. May the next 150 years be as successful as the past. Sincerely, / B.
