Tippecanoe Country Club was , constructed in 1922-1924 (
Tippy Country Club, a private club that is located along the northwest shore of Tippecanoe Lake, was constructed in 19?2-24. The club was originally the idea, in the 19205, of Dr. James Peterson, a dentist, and James Shepard; a hanker in Milford. They purchased the land and hired a number of architects from Chicago and Indianapolis to design a golf course and clubhouse on the highest spot on the north shore of the lake. The first golf professional hired was Tom Kelley of Chicago in 1925. The club held its grand opening on June 11,1926, with Mr. and Mrs. L. B. Branham of Nappanee as the first managers. The club was then described as a place for the ladies to visit and play bridge while their husbands played golf. In the 19505. a porch was added
Wrwi* I CONSTRUCTED IN 1922 — The Tippecanoe Lake Country Club was constructed in 1922-24. The 61-year-old club has been host to numerous golf tournaments and holds many extra activities for the whole family. Many of the long-time memberships are past down from generation to generation.

and a large scale renovation of the main building was done during the 19705. This included adding a pool, replacing gas and water lines and air conditioning. On the inside, a new kitchen was installed and the dining facilities were rearranged. In 1963, a new pro shop and gulf call shack were built. The club, which is open from April 1 to January 1, six days a week, covers 180 acres. The swimming pool is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day and is supervised by two lifeguards. In 1974, there were three tennis courts built which are maintained by a tennis professional. In addition to the athletic facilities, the club has men’s and women’s locker rooms, a number of dining areas, two executive rooms, a terrace, and a men’s bar connected to the men’s locker
room. There is also a pier and a small beach along the lakeshore. The 18-hole, par 70 golf course has been host to many tournaments. Other activities held are a dinner-dance every Friday and Saturday, and a Fourth of July celebration in conjunction with the lukc association Many of the club’s members have been long-time members with many memberships being passed down from generation to generation. Throughout the 61 years the club has been in existence, the popularity of the club shows that it is the premier summer location for the entire family-
