Theta Sigma organized in 1973

Theta Sigma chapter of North Webster is one of hundreds of chapters of Psi lota Xi Sorority, which is a national philanthropic organization whose purpose is-to further philanthropic (humanitarian) enterprises. The national sorority was founded in 1897 in Muncie, IN by a group of high scnooi giris and a teacher who wished to form a club to study and further their interest in art, music and literature. This purpose is still important to Psi Otes and can be reflected in the many ways they support the arts, such as the Indiana Indianapolis Symphony and the Hoosier Art Salon, as well as music and art groups in their local communities. As the sorority grew in size, the members saw many ways in which they could be of service to others. Speech and hearing

Each year the members support various groups and organizations with financial assistance as well as volunteer help.

Several fund raising events are held, the most well-known ones being the annual Christmas Bazaar, the May geranium sale and spring style show. The proceeds from these events allow the sorority to support day care centers, youth organizations, the music departments of area schools, the dental brush-in programs and scholarships, among others. Theta Sigma chapter is proud to be a part of the Lakeland Community and the town of North Webster, and to be able to continue the tradition of service established by out founders. Without the support of the residents of the community members report they would be unable to do this, and wish to thank all tho?e who have recognized and aided the sorority and its efforts.
