Red Cross offers KISS program The “All American Buckle Up” conducted May 21-28 challenged motorists and their passengers to buckle up for at least eight days to develop a lifelong, lifesaving habit of using safety belts. The American Red Cross is in full support of Indiana’s safety belt law that goes into effect July 1, stating that front seat occupants in passenger vehicles will be required to wear their safety belts. In a national study, 76 percent of Americans questioned said they support safety belt laws, and 81 percent said they believe the law saves lives. The American Red Cross, Kosciusko County Chapter, provides an infant seat through the KISS (Keep Infants Safely Seated) program for a nominal rental fee for nine months or until the child reaches 20 pounds in weight. At the time the seat is returned, a portion of the rental fee is refunded. Parents are urged to pick up the infant seat before the birth of the child. Parents will have to view a short (20 minute) film on the proper use of the seat before taking one home. To arrange for a KISS infant seat, call the Kosciusko County Chapter, American Red Cross, 267-5244.
