counted for more than a SI,OOO loss. According to Syracuse Detective Bob Houser Sr., the youths were connected with the thefts after a Syracuse officer discovered a television, that had been reported stolen, in one of the youth’s cars. Further investigation resulted in the arrest of an 18-year-old Syracuse boy, 17-year old Leesburg boy, and two 16-year-old youths. A fifth boy involved in the thefts, a 12-year-old Syracuse youth, was released to the custody of his parents on ihoiise arrest. Most of the thefts had occurred May 31, when the juveniles admitted to breaking into at least 15 automobiles and taking a equalizer and tapes, radar detector, tape players, television set, travel case, and a wallet. Additional items, such as stereo speakers, radios were also taken from vehicles in the Syracuse area in separate incidents.

Both companies are from Syracuse. This was a professional decision made by Mrs. Gerstner with the intent that joining her personnel to that of Coldwell Banker Beer, Realtors, an additional dimension in size and scope of the operations would result in additional benefits to past, present and future clients of both companies. The licensed salespeople under Mrs. Gerstner, at present, will be transferred and these salespeople will be attending Coldwell Banker educational seminars to acquaint them with the fran- . (Photo by Mike Skevington) ■< Jr PRESENTING FOSTER PARENT PIN - During last Wednesday evening’s Kosciusko County Foster Parent Recognition Dinner, guest speaker Sally Spear explained that foster parents live a life of “Double Jeopardy.” She said, “The double jeopardy comes in when you open your hearts to love these children and they begin to trust and love you also, then suddenly they’re gone.” Additionally, Mrs. Spear stated that the role of a foster parent is double jeopardy because parents are ask to shed their hearts shell of protection. Though the shell is what you often see, it’s only the outside covering and not really the person. Through the shedding of the shell the true person emerges and becomes vulnerable and can be hurt easily. Which is often what happens when you love a foster child because they often return to their former home. Approximately 40 persons were at the dinner which was held in the Shrine Building at the Kosciusko County fairgrounds. Most persons present were foster parents, though some were case workers, county officials, possible future parents, and members of the child protection team. . ) . Kosciusko County has 35 licensed foster fiomes, and placed 25 kids in foster care per month during 1986. Kosciusko County Welfare Director Peggy Shively, on the left, is shown as she gives Mrs. Spear a foster parent pin of appreciation. (Photo by Carla Gaff)
