SYRACUSE — Goshen broke open a close baii game with five runs in the sixth inning, handing Wawasee a 12-5 Northern Lakes Conference setback. The Warriors led early, but Goshen took command of the game when it scored two runs in the third. The pair of runs made Goshen’s Kevin Doss a winning pitcher and Mike Vandiepenbos a loser. The two NLC foes seesawed in the early stages. The Redskins opened the game with a run in the first, but the Warriors came back with two. in the second, both teams scored three times, allowing the Warriors to remain on top. But the Warriors’ lead was short lived. , Grotid slam lifts Bremen past Warriors SYRACUSE - Rob Coffel’s first inning grand slam proved to enough for Bremen Monday evening as the Lions posted their 17th win of the season with a 6-1 victory at Wawasee. The loss drops the Warriors’ record to 5-15 overall and 3-7 in the Northern Lakes Conference. Mike Vandiepenbos started, and took the loss for Wawasee. Vandiepenbos hurled four innings, allowing all of Bremen’s runs. Todd Roberts relieved Vandiepenbos and struck out four while blanking the Lions. Jon Hershberger led off the game with a walk. After Tim Lawmaster doubled, Joe Bennett received a no-out walk. That set the stage for Coffel’s gamewinning home run. The Lions added a pair of runs in the third inning to insure victory. Bremen has an 8-2 NLC mark. Wawasee’s only tally came in the fifth inning. Roberts opened the inning with a single. After stealing second base, Roberts advanced to third on a wild pitch. Kevin Parker brought in Roberts with a line single to center. — The Warriors continue their. NLC action Thursday afternoon with a 4:30 contest with Concord.

Raiders tap Wawasee, 4-2

SYRACUSE — Northridge scored four times in the fourth inning Thursday at Vega Field and Wawasee couldn’t recover as the Raiders trimmed the Warriors 4-2 in a non-conference girls' softball game. Annette Evans struck out 15 Wawasee batters and limited the Warriors to three hits. Jennifer Brumbaugh had two singles in the contest for Wawasee. The loss dropped Wawasee to 4-4, while Northridge improved to 6-3.

SYRACUSE — Chris Schwartz belted a three-run home run and Chris Conkling and Scott Jewson each collected key hits Mondav evening as Wawasee’s junior sity baseball team defeated Bremen 8-6. Adam Wilson picked up the victory by going the distance. He struck out nine and walked four in the complete game win. Offensively, Schwartz set the (one to the Warrior victory. Besides his towering three-run blast, Schwartz ripped Bremen pitching for two additional singles. Still, the game was in doubt until Jewson delivered the gamewinning single in the fifth. With a pair of Warriors in scoring position, Jewson ripped a line single, scoring both Warriors. He later came around and scored. Conkling added another key hit for Wawasee with a two-run single ta the third. In all, the Warriors scored seven of their eight’ runs on the three hits.
