members. The activities will begin on Saturday, May 2, with the mandatory measuring of all 4-H horses and ponies intended for show in the 4-H program this year. After the measure-in, there will be a fun show, games and activities for youth and adults in the horse barn area of the fairgrounds. At 3 p.m. that afternoon, a very special demonstra-

tion will be presented for members on how to prepare a horse for show. Members and parents will have opportunities to have their questions answered on grooming horses as part of the demonstration. Later in the evening, the 4-H Horse and Pony committee has' planned a pot luck supper and a dance for the participating families. The weekend campout will conqfude Sunday morning with a pot luck breakfast and church services on horseback. The civil defense will be sponsoring a bicycle safety program on May 23 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Lakeland Youth Center, and will be having a fund-raising event May 30-31 at the civil defense building. An open house is planned for Wednesday, July 8, from 7-9:30 p.m. in conjunction with the sesquicentennial celebration. Shown in the photo are members of the civil defense. Handicapped summer camp4isf available

A free listing of summer camps for mentally and physically handicapped children is now available from the Indiana Department of Education.

Over 30 camps serving the handicapped are identified. The listings for Kosciusko County include Camp Adventure at Pierceton, telephone 834-7260. The person to contact for more information is Grace Nunery, 6910 N. Washington Blvd.-, Indianapolis, Ind. 46220, phone 317-251-3732 TDD/Voice. The camp is held August 2-8 for kids ages four-18; residential for hearing impaired with oral and sign used. There will be Bible stories, crafts, swimming, canoeing, fishing, hiking, soccer, softball, volley ball, and special programs. Lodge and cabins are on Backwater Lake. This camp is held for ages 18-30, 30-30, 40-60. It is one week of residential for high moderaly mentally handicapped and low mildly mentally handicapped. There will be Bible studies, various sports, water activities, games, cooking, hiking, and other special activities. ♦

Wrays host WCTU The April 7 meeting of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union was held at the Winona Lake home of Mr. and Mrs. John Wray. Mrs. Mabel Eberhardt, president, called the meeting to order and John Wray led the members in prayer. Chester L. Humphries explained the telephone ministry in the community called "Dial A Story.” The program was begun in 1942 in New York City by O' Presbyterian minister, “The Bishop of Waif Street.” He put 10telephones in his home and announced the program with an article in the newspaper. Humphries has been involved in. the ministry since 1950. Doris Mater led devotions. Vera Morehouse reported on the poster contest, and Mrs. Kettell gave the report on the Winsome Women retreat.
