I By Marietta Fuller Guest Writer Dr. J. Vernon McGee, in his Thru the Bible books, says that Psalm 22 is a picture of the cross (called “the tree” by some) and that it describes more accurately and minutely the crucifixion of Christ than does any other portion of the Word of God. Tt corresponds, of course, to the twenty-second chapter of Genesis and the fifty-third chapter of Isaiah. So this, along with the accounts given in the four gospels — Matthew, Mark, Luke and John and scriptures given in this article should provide pertinent reading at this tim6. Psalm 22:1 opens with: My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? And this is again repeated and fulfilled in Matthew 27:46. In bearing the sins of the world, a horror to Christ, a holy God, He lost fellowship with God, the Father. . “Without the shedding of blood there is no remission of sin” (Hebrews 9:22). In the blood there is physical life and also spiritual life through Christ as our sins are cleansed by His blood. In the Old Testament days lambs were offered for the sacrifices of sin, but truly they were only a token until the “Lartib of God" should come, the ' Jgfig-awaited rMessiah and our Lord and Saviour*. Jesus paid opr sin debt in full on the cross. He was made sin for us. “Surely He hath borne our griefs and carried our Sorrows; yet we did esteem Him stricken, smitten of God and afflicted. But He was wounded for our transgressions He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of ouivpeace was upon Him and with His stripes we are healed. All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned every one to his own way and the Lord hath laid on Him the iniquity of us all." (Isaiahs3: 4-6). One of his followers would betray the Lord. Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. But his delight is in the law of the Lord; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgement. nor sinners in the con> egationof the righteous. For the Lord knoweth tl. way of the righteous: out the way of the ungodly shall perish. Psalm 1

He was to die by crucifixion (Psalm 22:14,16,17 and Matthew 27:31,38. And Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross and the writing was “Jesus of Nazareth, The King of the Jews” (John 19:19). Through these j readings the fulfillment of prophesies given many, many years ago should lead to greater faith in believers and for others to believe in Christ. When one comes to Him as did the repentant and believing thief on the cross, he can receive the same assurance — that of eternal life. (Read Luke 23:39-43). Christ was crucified, dead and buried, but He arose on the third day. He said in John 14:19 “Because I live ye shall live also” (If ye but believe in Me). GOOD NEIGHBORS COME FROM SIMILARITIES, NOT DIFFERENCES < 1 in' * ✓ fi Ain Z7 /* j-Sy ■Lj C/'.hlMjl hen two friendly nations live side by side and share a 3,000-mile unguarded boundary line, this is a fine example of neighbors getting along with each other. It required only a little mutual respect, trust and good will; aided by sports and tourism. In fact, the dividing line might well have been vertical rather than horizontal, because of the geographical features common to both countries. There is very little difference in climate and terrain between southern Canada and the northern United States. We share the forests and waterways of the east, including four of the Great Lakes, the vast expanse of the central plains and the awesome grandeur of the Rockies and the west coast ranges; along with the lifestyles and problems of each area. Our faith teaches us to love thy neighbor, and the evidence that we have taken this Scriptural advice is there fbi all the world to see and ponder.
