Goshen hands Warriors second loss
GOSHEN — Wawasee’s girls’ termis team dropped its record to 1-2/on the season Tuesday evening with a 5-0 setback at Goshen. The Warriors, earlier in the week, dropped a 3-2 decision with Fairfield. At Goshen, the Warriors stayed close to the Redskins but couldn’t overtake the hosts. “We played better against Goshen than against Fairfield,” suggested Wawasee’s Cindy Peterson, following the Warriors’ second loss. “There was no reason why we should not have beaten Goshen. We just couldn’t get over the hump.” Goshen’s top singles player,

Lisa Branson, had little trouble defeating the Warribrs’ Christy Weaver in straight sets. Branson breezed to a 6-3, 6-1, victory over Wawasee’s ace. The Goshen dominance continued when Lara. Warstler, perhaps better than Branson, edged Marci Wright 6-4, 6-3. The second singles position proved to be the turning point in the match. Miriam Blosser, playing in the third position for Goshen skipped past Heather Keiper 6-3, 4-6, 6-2, completing the Redskins’ clean sweep in singles play. Meanwhile, in doubles action, Goshen had everything go its way.
