NORTHERN LAKE'S CHRISTIAN CHURCH ' Ms. Mb ■Jr r / Thorpe And Karen Mitchel Pastors TV “HOLY WARS”: ANOTHER VIEW By THORPE MITCHELL The current publicity on the Christian TV "Holy Wars" has focused much attention on the activities of ministries in general. Right or wrong, it is evident that a significant shift has taken place in how we worship, behave, and reach the lost. A few years ago, all the TV evangelists could have committed mass suicide and it wouldn’t have generated a ripple of media interest. Today, however, a significant event in one or more of those ministries rates the covers of the most widely read news periodicals. Regardless of our views on the current events, the point , remains that Christian TV is reaching a lot of people. One of the reasons for this can certainly be explained by a recent Gallup poll that showed that, "Half of the unchurched feel that organized religion is not effective in helping people find meaning in life — and 39% of those going to church agree. Sociological studies of the last two decades show a rapidly growing demand for answers to the question of . life's meaning If organized religion is not perceived to be providing it, the search will continue in other areas. We have met many who have come to know God and find meaning in their lives through Christian broadcasting. Praise God for it. But a true hunger will ultimately lead beyond the tube to a fellowship of like minded believers. They didn't use to exist. They do now. Come see for ynursen.
