Audubon , society field trips F By BERNIECE H..DWYER Have you ever seen a Canada goose staking claim to her nest in the middle of the Tri-County Game Preserve pond? Have you eVer seen a great blue heron settle carefully on her untidy nest in the top of a sycamore tree along the Tippecanoe River? Have you ever seen a skunk cabbage which has just emerged from its bed of frozen muck? All of these thrills and many more await the person who accompanies the Tippecanoe Audubon Society on one of its field trips. This area is fortunate to have an active chapter of the National Audubon Society led by trained naturalists who are committed to assisting others to appreciate the wildlife and its habitats in our county and adjoining counties. Upcoming events include a visit to the heron colony on the banks of the Tippecanoe River north of Warsaw on April 12, a multi-media program on the birds of Indiana filmed and narrated by Paul Steffen on April 28 and a bird count on May 9 for which volunteers are needed.
