Jordan lifts Bulls over Clippers
CHICAGO — Michael Jordan < scored 30 points Tuesday evening t leading the Chicago Bulls past I the Los Angeles Clippers 114-80 in < a National Basketball Association game. I The Bulls overcame a sluggish J first period and stormed to a 17-point halftime lead. After the < Wawasee < tops Concord G 1 SYRACUSE — Wawasee’s girls 1 gymnastics team improved its 1 record' to 11-3 Tuesday evening i with Its 91-90.65 victory over Con- .. cord. The loss drops the :• Minutemen to 4-6 on the season. Just like in previous meets, balaihce was the key to this Warriorvictory. Wawasee snared two first place finishes, but gained the win with several second and third place efforts. | Julie Schmahl proved to be the I dominant Warrior in this meet. L Schmahl won the vault competition, and placed third in the floor I exercise for the Warriors. Sherry Daniels also turned in a spectacular evening with three different places. Daniels won the beam, scoring 8.15 points. She also placed third , on the vault (8.4) and third in all- i around with a 30.15 score. Other Warriors turning in key performances were Saby Vale I and Tressa Littleton. Vale finished second on the beam, second in I the floor exercise, and second in all-around competition. Littleton I tied Schmahl for third place in the floor exercise. In junior varsity competition, 1 Littleton won the vault competition with a 7.85 score, and beam (&85). ■The Warriors their momentum iqto this weekend’s sectional meet at Wawasee High School. •;

Clippers sliced the Bulls’ margin to 10 midway through the third period, Jordan took over for Chicago. Scoring 18 of his game-high 30 points in the third, Chicago rallied to take a commanding 21-point spread entering the final quarter. Chicago coach Doug Collins rested his starters in the fourth quarter. With the victory, Chicago matches its win total from a year ago with its 30-26 record. In other NBA action, Atlanta withstood a furious Indiana rally in the final quarter to defeat the Pacers 109-108 at Market Square Arena. Chuck Person tallied 31 points for the Pacers, while Herb Williams added 26. Dominique Wilkins led the Hawks with 30 points.
