LOUISA'S LETTER y g==g g 3
Dear Louisa, I have been invited to a golden anniversary party and the people are friends of mine and I am fond of both of them, but my problem is this — I am a widow with a retirement pension and it takes about all I get every month to pay my living expenses. There is nothing I would enjoy more than giving these people a lovely gift of gold but I simply do not have the money to buy one. Should I go to this party without sending a gift or should I stay home? Worried — Mo. Answer: I certainly would not stay away from a party of my good friends, if I were you, just because I could not afford to buy an expensive gift. Many couples who celebrate their golden wedding date request that the guests not bring gifts. But if-that is not the case in your situation why not send something simple such as goldedged stationary. Or if you have some gold coloretftlowers in your garden, a bunch of these —

chrysanthemums, marigolds, or yellow roses — would be a lovely gift. After all, people who have been married fifty years have usually accumulated a great many things for their home and are really not as interested in receiving expensive gifts as they are in seeing old friends and recalling the happy association with people they knew through the years.
