Anna Fletcher • Anna Pletcher, 96, formerly of 708 College Ave., mother of Alvin C. Pletcher, Syracuse, died Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 12:20 p.m. in Miller’s Merry Manor, Wakarusa. She had been admitted August 28,1985. Mrs. Pletcher was bom east of Goshen on September 9,1890, and was a lifetime area resident. She married Curtis Pletcher on January 26, 1911. He preceded her in death on September 10, 1971. She was a homemaker and the oldest member of the Clinton Brick Mennonite Church. Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Dan (Fern) Ingold and Mrs. Lamar (Delores) Garber, both of Goshen; c lO grandchildren; and 24 greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Harold, and four brothers and sisters. Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, in the Clinton Brick Mennonite Church, with Rev. Carl Smeltzer officiating. Burial followed in Clinton Brick Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Women’s Sewing Circle of the church. Lawrence Butts Lawrence Butts, 69,723 W. Garfield Ave., Elkhart, died Monday, Jan. 12, at Fountainview Place, Elkhart. A Milford native, he was born on July 22, 1917. On July 2, 1950, he married Beulah L. Ebersol in Osceola. Butts graduated in 1935 from Milford High School, attended Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio, Florida Bible Institute and Goshen College. He was an elementary teacher with the Topeka school system, a salesman, and an elder of the Assembly of Yahweh. Surviving are hi wife; one son, David L. Butts, Coon Rapids, Minn.; three grandchildren; and one brother, Charles V. Butts, Adamsville, Mich. Services were held at HartzlerGutermuth Funeral Home, Elkhart, at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. Louisville, Ky. 40214. A long-tiine Milford resident, Pruitt died Wednesday, Jan. 14, in a Louisville hospital. He had been in ill health for some time. He was born in Grayson County, Ky., on February 23,1935, the son of Holmes and Florence (Dennison) Pruitt. He was married to the former Sharon Elzroth who survives. He and his wife moved to Louisville six months ago from Milford. Pruitt was a former tool and die maker at Chore-Time, Milford, member of Milford Christian Church, was a veteran and a Mason. Surviving in addition to his wife are his mother, Florence Pruitt, Clarkson, Ky.; three sons, Jeffrey Pruitt, Louisville, Ky., Wenzel Pruitt, Jr., stationed in Korea with the US Air Force, and Michael Pruitt, serving with the US Air Force in Little Rock, Ark.; two sisters, Laverne Greenwell, Louisville, Ky., and Barbara Milliner, Leitchfield, Ky.; four brothers, James Pruitt and Bill Pruitt, Clarkson, Ky., Willis Pruitt, Cecilia Ky., and Jesse Pruitt, Louisville, Ky.; and two grandchildren. Rev. Grover Westover officiated at the services with burial in Clarkson Cemetery. Lowell McLaughlin Lowell C. McLaughlin, 70, Timbercrest Church of the Brethren Home, died at 3:25 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 10, at the Timbercrest Health Care Center. A retired Chore-Time, Milford, employee, he was born on October 1,1916, in Wabash County to Leo and Leona (Cripe) McLaughlin. On January 10,1936, he married Mary Hippensteel. She preceded him in death on Novembers, 1984. He attended the First Baptist Church in Oswego. Surviving are his father, Wabash; two sons, Mike McLaughlin, North Manchester, and Patrick McLaughlin, Wabash; two brothers, John McLaughlin/Wabash, and Paul McLaughlin, Florence, S.C. ; one sister, Evelyn Dickason, Titusville, Fla.; and four grandchildren. Services were held in Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester, at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, with Rev. Roy Mickley officiating. Burial was in the Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Thad R. Wiseiieari Thad R. Wiseheart, 67, Enchanted Hills, Lake Wawasee, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Jan. 13, at 11:27 a.m. while vacationing in Tucson, Ariz. Death was from a heart attack. Wiseheart was born on November 3, 1919, in Fortville, the son of Thad and Harriet (Robbins) Wiseheart. He married Ardis (Seiffert) White, on August 29, 1980. She survives In 1983, he retired after 43 years of service with United Technologies of Detroit. In earlier years he worked in North Manchester. He was a Navy veteran of World War 11, member of the Elks Lodge, Wauseon, Ohio, SPEBSQSA (Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barbershop Quartets Singing in America) for many years, and had toured nationally and internationally with USO in barbershop quartets. Surviving with his wife are two daughters, Mrs. Lewis (Sarah) Newton, Detroit, Mich., Mrs. Greg (Kathy) Kinneman, Ewa Beach, Hawaii; three sons, Jeff Wiseheart, Nashville, Tenn., Thad Wiseheart, Jr., Boston, Mass., and Chris Wiseheart, London, England; 10 grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Luke (Pauline) Cotter, Indianapolis. Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, with Rev. Donald Shpline officiating. Burial followed in Oakwood Cemetery. Roena Grim Mrs. Roena Grim, 60, r 1, North Webster, died Friday, Jan. 16, at 5 p.m. at her home after suffering an apparent heart attack. The daughter of Grover and Mabel (Maggart) Penn, Sr., she was born in North Webster on February 13,1926. On October 31, 1969, she married Earl Grim. He survives. , A lifetime resident of the North Webster area, she was a homemaker and member of the Bible Christian Church of North Webster. Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, was in charge of arrangements. Norma J. Grant Memorial services were held yesterday, Tuesday, Jan. 20, in Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw, for Norma J. Grant, 64, 3100 East Frontage Rd., Warsaw, mother of Jerome Grant of Leesburg. She died Friday, Jan. 16, at 1:05 p.m. in the Mason Health Care Facility. She had been in failing health the past year. She was born on September 5, 1922, in Warsaw, the daughter of Ernest and l&ana (Matson)* Myers. On October 31, 1956, she married Walter Grant. He preceded her in death in February 1975. Mrs. Grant had lived most of her life in the Warsaw area. For the past 10 years, she worked as an Avon sales representative and was a member of Delta Theta Tau Sorority alumni chapter number two. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Vivian Manrow, Port Lucy, Fla. Rev. Carlyle Mason conducted the service with burial following in the South Whitley Cemetery. In her earlier years, she had worked as a secretary for Ball Brothers Co., Muncie, and had moved to the Syracuse area four years ago from Muncie. She was a member of the Alpha Chapter of the Delta Theta Tau Sorority and the Memorial Grace Episcopal Church, Muncie. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Suzanne Runge, Syracuse, and two grandchildren. -4 _ I “*■" NO FIRE FOUND — Syracuse Firemen were called to the home of Robert Hepler, r 1 Syracuse, at 12:12 p.m. Friday, Jan. 16. Firemen were notified of smoke coming from the roof of the house by an anonymous caller and when they arrived smoke was coming from the chimney and the home was filled with smoke. An overheated oil furnace caused the excessive smoke. Firemen searched the house and attic but found no fire. The furnace was located and disconnected with fireman staying at the home until a furnace service man arrived. Smoke was ejected from the house by firemen opening windows to the home and using a fan. Grady named general manager of NP Telephone Mark Grady, North Webster, has been named general manager of New Paris Telephone Inc. A Kosciusko County native, he and his wife, Denise, and are the parents of two children. He graduated in 1973 from Wawasee High School and attended Purdue University, West Lafayette. Grady will be responsible for three operating companies including New Paris Telephone Inc., New Paris Telephone Sales and Service, and New Paris Telephone’s Quality Cablevision. He has been with New Paris Telephone for five years. He was previously in charge of the sales and service division and also helped create the cable television division. The former general manager, N. E. (Skip) Anderson, has been named director of inter-company relations through the end of 1987.

Mrs. Gerald (Jeanette) Wolf, Syracuse. The son of John and Elizabeth (Gabbard) Fletcher, he was born in Breathitt County, Kentucky, on March 8,1895. He was married to Maude E. Stamper, who ed him in death on April 24,1977. In 1940, Fletcher moved to Indiana from Kentucky wheiy'he had been a coal miner. In 1958, he retired as a crane operator at Phelps Dodge in Fort Wayne. He" was a member of the Church of Christ of Columbia City. Additional survivors include three sons, Roy E., Bair Lake, Albion; William H., Churubusco, and Harold Ray, Okeechobee, Fla.; three other daughters, Mrs. Glenna Mary Mitchell, Fort Wayne; Mrs. Albert (Lavina) Cory, Okeechobee, Fla., and Mrs. Marjorie Waple, Detroit, Mich.; one brother, Shelby, Okeechobee, Fla.; and two sisters, Eva Sparks, Louisville, Ky., and Mrs. Effie Kincaide, Columbia City. Burial will be in Eel River Cemetery near Churubusco. G. Raymond Bess G. Raymond Bess, 76, r 2 box 6, Milford, died this morning, Wednesday, Jan. 21, at 12:48 a.m. in Goshen Hospital. Death was from complications of heart disease. He had been in ill health for some time. Bess was born in Ripley, Ohio, on May 14, 1910, the son of Isaac and Susan (Corbin) Bess. He had lived in the Milford area for 35 years, moving from Ohio. On June 3, 1933, in Ohio, he married Anna Colvin. She survives. He had been a farmer and retired in 1976 from Chore-Time Equipment in Milford after 11 years. Surviving with his wife are two

Friends may call at Mishler Funeral Home, Milford, tomorrow, Thursday, Jan. 22, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be field there on Friday at 2 p.m. „with Tom Speicher, pastor of the ‘wawasee Community Bible Church of Milford, officiating. Burial will be in the New Paris Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Wawasee Community Bible Church, PO box 617, Milford, Ind. 46542. Robert R. Boulanger, Sr. Robert R. Boulanger, Sr., 65, r 1, Leesburg, died Saturday, Jan. 17, in his home of an apparent heart attack. He was born on February 4, 1921, in Chicago, 111., to Sheldon and Evelyn (Gemash) Boulanger. On September 10, 1947, he married the former Dorothy Mathey. She preceded him in death in 1986. Boulanger moved to the Barbee Lake area in 1980 from Cicero, 111. He was a deliveryman for a .medical supplies company in Chicago and a former cab driver. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Donna Tova, Midlothian, 111., and Mrs. Roberta Sintron, Chicago; one son, Robert, Jr., Sierra Vista, Ariz.; and seven grandchildren. The body was cremated and there will be no visitation or funeral service. Harris Funeral Home, SR 13S, Syracuse, was in charge of arr ' rangements.
