Evalou Kern Evalou Kern, 56, 904 Hudson St., Elkhart, mother of Darla Gawthrop, Syracuse, was dead on arrival at 1:07 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, at the Elkhart Hospital. Death was due to an apparent heart attack. She was born in Bedford on October 15, 1930. On July 20, 1968, she married Floyd V. Kern in Bristol He survives. ...... Mrs. Kern was a member and past auxiliary commander of the American Legion Post 74 and member of the Disabled American Veterans Post 19 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 88 auxiliaries. Surviving with her husband and daughter are one son, Roger Emmons, Elkhart; one additional daughter, Debra Robinson, Elkhart; one stepdaughter, Mrs. John (Regina) Kasamis, Elkhart; one stepson, David Kern, Londoif'Ontario, Canada; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Ollie and Kenneth Hardin, both of North Webster; and five sisters, Mrs. Michael (Carolyn) Wheeler and Mrs. Thomas (Cheryl) Young, both of Goshen, Mrs. Carlton (Brenda) Grotrian, Elkhart, Mrs. Donald (Jean) Nolan, West Baden, and Mrs. Linus (Ann) Lerey, Clestine. She was. preceded in death by a brother, Robert W. Hardin, and a sister, Marilyn Whitehead. Services were held Saturday, Jan. 3, at 11 a.m. in Stemm-Lawson-Peterson Funeral Home, Elkhart. Paul E. Rink Paul Edward Rink, 67, 525 E. Washington St., Millersburg, brother of Mrs. John (Eva) Emmert, Syracuse, died at 12:01 a m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in his home following an extended illness. Rink was born in Millersburg on February 4,1919. On March 23, 1944, he married Irma Kline in Middlebury. She survives. Clark Services were held at 1 :-30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 2, in Harris Funeral Home, Syracuse, for Beatrice G. , died at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, in her home after being in failing health for several years. The daughter of Thomas and Leulla (Burrows) Hendricks, she was born on January 18, 1903, in Covert, Mich. On February 14, 1926, she married Charles Frederick Clark. He survives. In 1942, the Clarks moved to the North Webster area from South Haven, Mich. They owned and operated the M&M Restaurant in North Webster until retirement in 1968. Mrs. Clark was a member of the North Webster United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star, Syracuse. Surviving with her husband are one son, Charles Frederick Clark, -Jr., North Webster; five grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren. One sister is deceased. Rev. O. Mich., sister of Dr. Arden Walgamuth, North Webster, died Wednesday, Dec. 31, at 5 p.m. in the Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo where she had been a patient for five days. , Mrs. Hahn was born on July 8, 1927, in Columbia City, the daughter of Ernest and Ruth (Brubaker) Walgamuth. She married Norman P. Hahn on August 9,1947. He survives. She was a member of the Second Reformed Church in Kalamazoo, was very active in church activities and involved in 'many civic activities. In 1951, she moved from Mishawaka to Kalamazoo. Surviving along with her husband and brother are one son, Christopher Hahn, Incline Village, Nev.; three daughters, Mrs. Thomas (Sandra) Dailey, Columbia, Mo., Mrs. John (Patricia) Durham, Fremont, Mich., and Mrs. David (Janet) Severance, Minneapolis, Minn.; six grandchildren; two additional brothers, Orlo'WalgapiUth, South Whitley, Charles Walgamuth, Kalamazoo, Mich.; many nieces and nephews; and an uncle, Fred Walgamuth, Akron. There are also several other survivors who reside in the Kosciusko County area. A private interment was held Saturday, Jan. 3, in the Mount Ever-Rest Cemetery in Kalamazoo. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Second Reformed Church in Kalamazoo with the Rev. Karl Overbeek, pastor, officiating. Freida Rupholdt Services were held at 1 p.m. this afternoon, Wednesday, Jan. 7, at Yoder-Culp Funeral Home, Goshen, for Mrs-. Freida D. Rupholdt, 68, 800 East GrCenhaus Dr., Syracuse. She died Saturday, Jan. 3, at 11:58 a m. in Goshen Hospital. The daughter of Charles and Nora (Beeson) Norris, she was born on April 3,1918, in Kosciusko County. On April 4,1936, she married Earl F. Rupholdt in Goshen.

Mr. Nolan was born on July 4, 1917, in Elkhart. On December 31, 1954, in Bryan, Ohio, he married Betty L. "Weich. She preceded him in death in 1985. Mr. Nolan was a member of the Elkhart City Police Department, was a self employed marine mechanic, was employed by Main Channel Marina, Syracuse, and was an Army veteran, serving in World War 11. He was also Syracuse Animal Control Officer for three years. He was bprn June 23, 1931, in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Michele and Giacomina (Visconti) Vultaggio. On October 7, 1961, he married the former Judith Kline of Syracuse. She survives. Vultaggio was an electrical engineer for Raytheon Company, Andover," Mass., and had resided in El Paso for the past eight years after being out of the United States on business. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Milford EMS records to be computerized
The Milford EMS held its monthly meeting on Monday, Jan. 5. The meeting was called to order by president Cheryl Brunjes who reported John Murphy is in the process of putting all the EMS records into the computer system. An announcement was given that Chore-Time has donated SI,OOO to the Milford EMS. There were 25 persons present for the EMS Christmas party held at JWs Drive-In on December 14. All in attendance had a good time and everyone agreed that Barb Richardson did a great job as hostess. John Corbin made the motion that the EMS purchase six Commx II radios. This motioned was seconded by Jo Hepler and it passed. It was reported there are about five radios not working or will soon be needing repair. Corbin also brought up the idea to buy more winter coats since there are not enough to go

He had been in ill health for some time. Troyer was born on April 8, 1921, in Crystal Springs, Kan. On December 31, 1968, he married Margaret Dorsett in Goshen. In 1984, he retired as a driver

The next order of business was proposed by Corbin to invest into an emergency traffic mover. This EMT system pulsates a bright white light at three times per second. This will make the ambulance even more visible from much further away and will also help out on those foggy, snowy runs. The brochure states it will attract attention before sirens or colored lights. The motibn was made by Bobi Doll to invest into the white light. The motion was seconded by Jo Hepler and it passed. Diabetic classes January 12-15
Diabetes is a major health problem and many people are not well informed. Knowledge of the disease and it’s care is important in preventing problems. A series of diabetic classes for diabetics, their families, and other interested people will be held at Goshen Hospital on January 12, 13, 14, and 15 at 7 p.m. in Pepple Auditorium in the hospital. The Monday class will be “Diabetes: Explanation and Care.” On Tuesday, “Principles of the Diabetic Diet” will be discussed. Group participation of ‘ ‘Planning Meals for at Home and Away from Home” is the highlight for Wednesday evening. The final session will cover, “The Effects of Diabetes on the Body,” on Thursday evening. Nancy Schooley, RN, diabetes education coordinator, and Barb Fierce, RD, hospital dietitian, will conduct the classes. These classes are presented to help understand more about diabetes. The meeting, open to all ages. will be held from 3:25-4:30 p.m. The program will be “Puttin’ on the Hits,” which will be lipsyncing to favorite songs or a group. The club is trying to get the interest of all students and parents and everyone is invited.
