10 YEARS AGO. DEC. 29. 1976 A disastrous fire Sunday night swept through the small office building in Wawasee Village, housing the Elder Realty and Development Co., destroying the building and all its contents. No one was in or near the building at the time and loss to the building was estimated at $25,000 and SIO,OOO to the contents. No objectors showed up last night at the meeting of the Syracuse Economic Development Commission at the town hall to protest the issuance of revenue bonds at the Premiere Corporation, a Dayton, Ohio, based firm that is currently building a new plant on West Brooklyn street in Syracuse. Commission president Paul Levernier presided over a brief meeting in which he called the new Syracuse industry “a top notch company .” Syracuse's Kim Cripe, a starting defensive end for Purdue this past fall, has been named to the 1976 Big Ten all-academic football team. A senior management major, Cripe has earned a 5.34 grade-point average out of a possible 6.0 and becomes eligible for the academic all-America team to be selected by college sports information directors of America (CoSIDA) later this month. Cripe, a three-time letter winner for Purdue, is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Cripe, r 1. Mr. and Mrs. Cornelius W. Reuter, to Robin Kenneth Boyer, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford G. Boyer of 112 W. E. Long Dr., Syracuse. The couple plans a summer wedding. 20 YEARS AGO. DEC. 28. 1966 Miss Sandra Schleeter of Dayton, Ohio, spent Christmas with her mother, Mrs. Lois Schleeter, and other relatives at Syracuse. The L. C. Sheibleys, Syracuse, entertained at Christmas for Mr. and Mrs. Earl Treadway, John Stetler of Syracuse and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Gilliland, Mishawaka. Christmas Eve guests in the home of Mr. and Mrs. Volney Kammerdiener North of Syracuse were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Kammerdiener and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. George Lewallen, Mr. and Mrs. John Hartzler and daughter, Mrs. Catherine Babcock, all of Syracuse; and Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kammerdiener of New Paris. Santa Claus made his appearance during the evening. Last Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Ritter and son of Syracuse, were Mr. and Mrs. Ora Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Richard VanDiepenbos. Registration for IUSB spring classes Registration for spring semester classes at Indiana University at South Bend will be held in the administration building cafeteria on Monday. Tuesday, Wednesday, Jan. 5, 6 and 7, from 10 a m. until 7 p.m. Students will register according to class standing and alphabetical order. The IUS.B bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. on the days of registration. Placement tests will be offered at various times during the registration period for persons planning to enroll in their first IUSB mathematics, computer science, foreign language, chemistry or English composition class. Spring semester classes will begin on Monday, Jan. 12. Persons who wish to enroll in IUSB classes for the first time may call the admissions office 237-4455 for information about entrance requirements, academic programs and placement tests.
