At last night’s meeting of the Syracuse Chamber of Commerce new officials were elected for the coming year. New directors elected were Jerry Herbison and George Lamm. Robbie Robertson, outgoing president, automatically is a member of the 'Special' feasts through the years Down through the years, in various countries the Christmas feasts have sometimes ranged form gorgeously exotic to downright ridiculous. Boars’ heads with apples in their mouths, gilded peacocks and sweetmeats were set before medieval kings. Australian early settlers tried to English plum pudding under the sizzling summer sun, along with braised kangaroo. Fried locusts and smoked elephant graced the table of an African adventurer, and one party during the 1870 siege of Paris, dined off roast cat. It’s plain to see that down through the ages, Christmas dinner was planned through a strong determination to feast on something “special." Christinas can be time of sharing for children Children can easily learn to think of sharing with others rather than always thinking of •getting" for themselves. Help them plan what gift they will get for whom. Small children get distracted when they go shopping with the masses of things from which to choose Looking through store flyers ahead of shopping helps children to pick out something they might like to get for daddy or a brother or sister without a multitude of distractions. Legend of the Wassail bowl As one raise the cup of kindness of Christmas or New Year’s Day, keep in mind "this is a continuing tradition which dates back hundreds of year. According to legend, the wassail bowl and the Christmas toat started with the same gesture. At the reception for an early Germanic chieftain in Britain, the daughter of the chieftain offered a gold cup filled with wine to the host and said, "Waes hael hlaford Cyning" or “Be of health. Lord King."

mance. As pilot error accounts for about 90 per cent of all aircraft accidents the improvement in computerization will eliminate these problems. The latest Buck Rogers plan is for the Orient Express. Plans are on the table now for a plane which will be able to fly from Dulles Airport, Washington, D C. to Tokyo, Japan, in about 2‘ ? hours or from Chicago to Singapore in two hours. It will cost about 10 per cent of what a space shuttle costs today. Knudsen estimates this plane will fly about 1996 and he wants to be one of the first passengers.
