Bringing the craft out Tuesday afternoon, Merle went for a fast trip around Syracuse Lake and reports the ice is in excellent condition for winter sports. He took several persons for their first ice boat ride, and aroused considerable interest in the sport. Tree lights When buying lights for the Christmas tree read the box label and tags attached to the string. Erratic lights are very dangerous and also will spoil the effect of the tree. Buy individually lighted bulbs. If one bulb burns out, the others will still lit. Also buy lights that have a safety fuse plug. If the circuit is overloaded, the fuse in the safety plug will blow instead of the main fuse. Instead of ceramic-coated bulbs or translucent bulbs for plastic trees, get the optic sprays. They have tiny hairlike strands which contain no electricity but pick up light from below. Two Syracuse men charged with theft Two Syracuse men were charged and booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on charges of forgery and theft. They are accused of stealing payroll checks from J. C. Verl Baker, 39, Meadow Court Apartments, was backing his 1978 Cadillac from a parking spot at the apartments, off Section Street, when he clipped the Troup vehicle, according to David Hobbs, town marshal. No damages were caused to the Baker vehicle.
