NIC swim meet at Wawasee

The Wawasee High School girls’ swimming team will host the Northern Lakes Conference meet on Thursday, Oct. 30, at 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 1, at 9 a.m. This meet was originally scheduled to be held at Concord. The Warrior swimmers Walker is worth it (By PETE FRITCHIE Guest Writer WASHINGTON, D.C. - If anyone doubted whether Herschel Walker is worth the million plus he receives from Dallas, the first few games of the season have shown he’s worth it. The proof of the pudding came in Dallas when the Redskins called, October 12. That was a “must” game for Dallas and Tony Dorsett, perhaps still not quite fully recovered from an injury, did little or nothing. Without Walker catching passes and running over Redskins, Dallas might not have won that game. The Redskins, and especially their young quarterback, were not at their best. The passing was poor and the running not up to standard, and in addition George Rogers was injured during the game. So the 30-6 score was a combination of Walker and subpar Redskin play. While Dorsett, when he played, was usually trapped for little or no gain. Walker ploughed through openings and picked up big yardage. On some occasions he carried a Redskin or two on his back. (They learned to tackle him low as the game went on.) Walker, a devout young man, studies hard and has learned an intricate offense in a short time. He’s usually early for meetings and practice and never causes problems. He remains a modest player, thankful for his blessings. And he looks like the difference between Dallas being a so-so team and an outstanding team.

The term arthritis is used to describe over one hundred separate diseases including rheumatoid, osteoarthritis, gout and lupus. One out of every seven Americans has arthritis. That’s. 36 million people. Over seven million people are disabled by arthritis. A new case of arthritis is diag- ■> nosed every 33 seconds. There is as yet no cure for this disease but there are medications, physical therapy programs and artificial implants that reduce pain. These also allow more flexibility and mobility of the effected joints. For more than 20 years, artificial knees and hips have been implanted on patients with serious arthritis pain. This can help people with arthritis have a better quality of life.
