The girls’ varsity volleyball team at Wawasee won, 10-15,15-0, 15-0, when it hosted last night’s game (Tuesday) against Tippecanoe Valley. Jennifer Morgan completed 11 service points and 27 assists. Spikers for Wawasee were Amy Conroy with 18 and Ann Vitaniemi with 14. JV also won its match against Tippecanoe Valley, 15-3,15-13. At Saturday’s Warsaw Tourney, Wawasee beat Elkhart Central, 3-15, 15-5. 15-12, but lost to Warsaw, 4-15, 15-13, 9-15. Warsaw went on to compete against Fort Wayne Northrup in the finals, but lost. Amy Conroy made 12 service . points during the tournament. Jenni Gilmore gave 42 assists with Wendy Lung following close behind with 39. Leading in spikes

Sectionals will be held at Northridge on Thursday, Oct. 23, at 6:00 p.m. Coach Karen Albert said that although North Wood is seeded number in the tourney, she expects that her teams will provide a highly competitive game. Wawasee girls outswhn Culver The Wawasee varsity girl swimmers travelled to Culver yesterday (Tuesday) and defeated their hosts by a score of 90 to 81. The depth of the Warriors in placing second and third allowed them to beat Culver on total points even though Culver garnered first place wins in eight events. Stacie Boles won the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:16.18, Judy Schmahl was first in diving and Danielle Iwankowitsch took first in the 100 yard backstroke with a time of 1:09.69 The Wawasee swim team now has a record of nine wins and three losses. The next meet will be with Huntington North at the Wawasee pool.
