FOL hold September meeting North Webster Friends Os The Library met September 3 at the library with Betty Clark presiding. Marty Crawford was named as program chairman. Minutes of the August meeting were read by Imogene Palmer. Ruth Dunker gave the treasurer's report. They reported on their recent visit to the public , library at Geneva. The next meeting will be held October 1 at 10:30 am. at the North Webster Tippecanoe Township Library Prospective members and guests are always welcome.

THE NORTH Webster Lady Lions are sponsoring a fashion show and dessert buffet at 1 p.m. September 20 at Camelot Hall. Entertainment will be provided by ‘The Dancing Grandmas” from Fort Wayne. All proceeds will be used for community service projects or charity. Tickets may be purchased from any member of the Lady Lions organization. I called her and talked to her. "One year I was Betsy Ross on a float in the Mermaid Festival parade That was during the time I worked at Thornburgs. Alice Rinker asked me to be “Betsy” so I really enjoy reading about the festival. Lots of good memories. “Our best to all. Have a good winter. Sincerely. Evelyn Koontz." —o— ON SEPTEMBER 22. the North Webster sesquicentennial committee will meet at 7 p.m. at Camelot Hall BESSIE HOOVER was hostess for the September 8 meeting of Miriam Circle. Rebekah Circle members are meeting today. Fall classes at Lakeland Youth Center The Lakeland Youth Center has some exciting classes to offer residents this fall. Listed below are several for those with physical fitness in mind. Judo — classes will meet on Thursdays, beginning on Sept. 18 Class time is from 8-9 p.m. Adult Exercise — the morning classes will meet from 9-10 a m on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays. The evening classes will meet from 7-8 p.m. on Mondays and Limbercise — this class, which is designed to limber a person up slowly and without much stress, will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30-10:30a.m. Gymnastics — classes will, meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 4:30-7:30 p.m., depending upon the level the student is in. Contact the youth center at 457-3055 to register for classes. Office hours are 9 a m.-12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Afternoon and evening hours vary. The Lakeland Youth Center is a United Way Agency.
Conservation Club to hold auction Tables were decorated with bouquets of roses for the September 3 meeting of the Hoosier Auxiliary of Barbee Conservation Club held at Barbee Conservation Club building. A carry-in dinner was served with Ann Beamer and Miriam Mason as hostesses. Edna Lawson presided during the business session. Ethel Elston reported on activities of the cards and flowers committee. Minutes of the August meeting were read Ijy Mrs. Beamer. Mrs. Lawson gave the treasurer’s report. The afternoon was spent playing games.
September 10, at the home of Betty McNair. A potluck dinner will be served. FOR THE first time ever, officially sanctioned, modified outboard motor boat races will be held at North Webster. The Indiana Outboard Association is sponsoring the race which will be held September 14 at noon at Dixie Haven on Webster Lake. Entries are expected from several states. Food concessions will be available. There is no admission charge. For further information call 834-2648 evenings or 834-4380 during regular business hours. AN ALL church picnic was held September 7 at North Webster Church of God following the 10:45 a m. morning worship service. —O'north WEBSTER School Carnival is planned for September 19 from 5-8 p.m. at the school. All proceeds will go towards the purchase of educational items. The event is being sponsored by the PTFO and Linda Doll is this year's carnival chairman. There will be a chili supper, and ativities too numerous to mention. THE APPRECIATION dinner, being sponsored by the North Webster Fire Department and EMS, has been rescheduled from

The group's annual fall auction is scheduled for October. Club hears about comedian Virginia Osburn was hostess for the September 1 meeting of Charm and Chatter Club. She was assisted by Carrie Switzer. Carol Ritchie read two poems, “Recipes For Happiness” and “Be Glad,” both by Helen S. Rice. Susie Ward, vice president, presided during the business session. Helen Cline, health and safety chairman, discussed heart surgery. There was a group discussion pertaining to winter storage of flower bulbs. Mrs. Osburn, a native of Vincennes, told about comedian Red Skelton. She and Skelton were school mates as young children. Roll call response was, “A sight to behold. ” Correspondence was read from the North Webster sesquicentennial committee, 4-H Foundation, and North Webster Fire Department and EMS. Mrs. Ward gave a brief report
August 23 to September 27. The fund drive has been extended because canvassing the area is taking longer than anticipated. Anyone donating S2O will receive a free dinner for two to be served September 27 from 4-7 p.m. at North Webster school cafeteria. of the president's council meeting. Refreshments of fruit-nut bread and cheesecake were served prior to the business session by Mrs. Osburn and Mrs. Switzer. Following the meeting, a Christmas workshop of bazaar items was enjoyed. Each member brought a project of her choice. Mrs. Ritchie will be hostess for the October meeting. Snowmobile Club holds first meeting The first meeting of the season for Lakeland Snowmobile Club was held September 3 at North Webster Town Hall with 25 persons in attendance. Joyce Packard reported on the group's summer activities including the Mermaid Festival and a family outing at Jellystone Park. Discussion was held pertaining to programs and carry-in dinners for the coming year. Larry Reed has been named general chairman for the 1987 Winter Carnival. Jeff Corn is cochairman.
