Bicycle safety ends August 1
The Syracuse bicycle safety program will end Friday, Aug 1, where it will be presented at St Andrew’s church parking lot. The program will begin at 9 a m and end at noon. The bicycle safety program began in June of this year and over 100 children have par ticipated. The program, which is free to all Syracuse residents, consists of an obstacle (.course that includes stop signs, imitation
railroad tracks. U-turn signs and other obstacles that teach children what to watch for when riding bikes on streets Each child is given a stick-on license plate and all bikes are registered. With North Webster’s sesquicentennial coming up in 1987, the North Webster Chamber of Commerce is in need of ideas of how and when the celebration should be held. All interested people are invited to attend to a special meeting Monday, Aug. 4, at the Dixie Haven building at the new town beach. The C of C, along with the North Webster Lions Club, took care of the seating for this year's Mermaid Festival. It only took one hour and 45 minutes to put the seating up and one hour and 15 minutes to take them down. Recognition has been given to Indiana Truss for providing the lumber and the North Webster Police Dept, for directing traffic. The chamber collected slightly more than $1,350. The chamber is looking for ideas for a float for next year or better ways to handle the seating. The chamber won first prize, a trophy and a check for $75 for its
