You can deter this unsightly moisture from forming on your windows by selecting ones that have a high ability to resist it. (THERMAL TESTED) AAMA 1504 83 U CLASS I CRF CLASSI (Max U 47) (MN CRF 52) v ~ This special tab indicates that a window has been tested for energy efficiency and can reduce a home's heating and cooling fuel costs.. When water vapor touches a surface whose temperature is cooler, the vapor turns to visible droplets called condensation. It can form on your windows during the winter if the air in your home contains enough water vapor. While there is no such thing as a condensation-free window, engineers have established the Condensation Resistance Factor (CRF), which indicates a window’s ability to resist condensation. The higher the CRF, the less likely condensation is to occur. Generally, windows must have a CRF of above 35 to resist condensation in most parts of the US. One way to deter condensation is to install thermalized windows in your home. Designed to be energy-efficient structures, these windows are fully insulated against heat conduction. They save money by resisting air leakage and heat transmissions. 101-85 j In addition to knowing the CRF, when buying thermalized windows, you should check for the American Architectural Manufacturers Association label. It can be an assurance that rigid specifications have been met and that the windows are as energy efficient they can be.
