Ladies' golf results MAXWELTON Playing the day was low gross, low net, and low putts at Maxwelton Ladies Day on Wednesday, July 2. Nine hole winners were: Bonnie Newman, low gross; Bette Slabaugh, low net; Jane Lantz, low putts. And 18 hole winners were: Jackie Wortinger, low gross; Marge Kavanaugh, second low gross; Patty Norman, low net; Betty Kline and Alice Herbison tied for low putts. The Ladies Day Handicap tournament is in progress with second round matches to be played Wednesday (today). Plans were finalized for the invitational to be held at the club on Wednesday, July 16. BIG BOULDER Big Boulder Belle golf results from Wednesday, July 2, are: Maxine Johnson, low gross; Evelyn Orn, low net; Janet Brandon, low putts. The Ladies League is sponsoring a golf scramble this Friday, July 11. A fee will be charged. Tee-off time is between 5 and 6 p.m. Each team of four must be made up of two male and two female players. Awards will be given at the club house during a potlucli dinner which will follow the scramble. Those participating should take a salad or dessert and their own table service. If interested, please sign up at the Bib Boulder club house by Thursday, July 10. The public is invited. For more information call the club house.

Incoming freshmen who are interested in playing football at Wawasee High School should attend an organizational meeting Aug. 18 at 5 p.m. Equipment will be issued during that meeting at the high school. Then, football candidates should be ready for the first practice, which will be Aug. 19 at 9 a.m. The first freshmen game will be Aug. 3o’at Goshen. Game time is 10 a.m. Head Coach Myron Dickerson has also announced that the first varsity non-contact practice will be Aug. 11, between 1 and 4:30 p.m. The annual jamboree will be at Goshen on Aug. 22, featuring Wawasee, Concord; Jimtown and Goshen.
