Robin Renz, Corporate Sales DOWN UNDER AND OVER Think of a beautiful green island that is 190 miles long and 180 miles wide. Cover it with lush rolling pasture and large tracts of virtually unexplored wilderness. Pamper it with a temperature climate that avoids the northern hemisphere excessess of heat and cold. Blend in a proud and visible British colonial history. Then, populate it with 424,600 Austrailions who prefer to be known as Tasmanians. Add clean water and air, good roads and uncrowded recreational areas The result is the makings of whot is, inexplicably, one of the most underrated, least known destinations in the entire southern hemisphere, Tasmania. By MARY JURSS Librarian Once in a while a book crosses the librarian’s desk that a review can’t say enough about. This book should be read by all parents - mothers, fathers, step-mothers, step-fathers, grandmothers and grandfathers. I have often stayed up late reading a book too good to put down, but this book had such an impact. The book is “Letters to Judy: What your Kids Wish they Could Tell You” by Judy Blume. Have you listened to your kids lately? I mean really listened. Apparently not, because kids are writing to Judy. She answers their letters and shares with them her own experiences as both mother and child. She is a favorite author to millions of kids, including this librarian. I was introduced to her when my children were young. In her writing she is big sister, mom, teacher and friend. These kids write to her about divorce, death and friendship; about their lives at school and their changing bodies; suicide, drugs, child abuse and incest. They write in pain, confusion and fear, but always m hope. “Letters to Judy” is addressed to everyone in the family and it can be read alone or together. Either way it’s a truly rare opportunity for parents to better understand kids - and for kids to better understand themselves.

Try making a list of the activities around the house that you would feel proud to be doing; assign to each day one of these projects, or a part of it. It’s sometimes necessary to take a long range view of certain projects. Learn to be happy if you are working toward a goal.
